"Regulate them as public utilities". How? Any time any troll spams the comment boards with dick picks are we going to have a public trial about it? Sounds like a massive waste of resources and this idea just isn't geared in reality. This is completely different from Net Neutrality, because the simple answer around Net Neutrality is to make public access in ADDITION to Comcast, Verizon, etc. People would quickly switch over to save money, however it's completely different with websites. Is the government going to create it's own Twitter? I'm fine with that, but in reality it's likely not going to work because the government sucks at developing software. Any software developer can tell you that just look at Obama's healthcare .gov site, and these sites are free to begin with so what's the incentive besides "government regulation of free speech" because that doesn't sound very appealing to begin with to the average person especially in an Ajit Pai and Trump presidency. This is just a very poorly thought out idea in my opinion and I own several websites. More regulations on websites is not the answer in this case, just look at the SESTA/FOSTA laws that were just passed that make websites owners liable for their content. Those laws basically made pimps relevant to modern America again because sex workers can't use these sites anymore. No offense Kyle, but your idea just isn't feasible in the slightest.
