chad alston Give it a rest. I bet over half the stuff you think is in the GND is not even in it. It doesn't matter, because the core idea is to create a plan that gets us to 100% renewable and creates millions of new jobs. If you can't get on board with that, then I don't know what would appease you.

@NarmyHiiragi Cenk and Kyle literally started Justice Democrats with that exact rule about not taking corporate PAC money, so it sounds like you're just working backwards from your conclusions.
3
@UserName-mn5rx Oh jesus, give it a rest. The whole thing between the GND and the OFF Act is a total Fake Debate. Saying the GND is a "non-actionable, bullshit nothing "plan"" is like saying FDR's New Deal was a "non-actionable, bullshit nothing "plan"" because it just outlined the goals and ambitions and led to policies like the Social Security Act and the 1933 Recovery Act.

Nah, apparently Mike Gravel and Marianne Williamson already signed and I imagine Tulsi Gabbard will sign it momentarily as well.
2
Doubt it, if she signs it then it will be much harder for her to do her "general election pivot", which she basically admitted she would do in an interview.

Bozorgmehr Bahmani Nothing's free, all people are doing is finally asking that their tax dollars (they've been giving to the government for decades) finally be used for something that benefits their lives, not for starting more wars in the Middle East so Exxonn can have more oil next year. We pay the government (no matter what) and they give us something in return, how does that sound like "freebies" to you?
2
I woulda gone just to see Richard Ojeda alone. His speech was so fucking awesome
2
I think you're misunderstanding what the pledge is for. It's not for Bernie, it's FOR all the faux progressive candidates who are pretending to be Bernie-look-alikes.
2
@NarmyHiiragi If you don't think those 5 points in the pledge "aren't really progressive", then I don't know how to help you.
2
@gregsalvati7106 That's awesome how they list all the candidates who "have not signed the pledge yet".
2
@swatejtripathi3083 The pledge doesn't specify that they must support the GND your talking about. It just says a green new deal that tackles climate change in a 12 year period.
2
@Los_Servants Most people would vote for Tulsi, but she doesn't have the name recognition to pull off a win in the primary against Joe Biden and not when we already have Bernie closing in on being the front-runner again.
2
I think some people are misunderstanding who this pledge is directed at. It's not for Bernie and his platform, it's for all the Bernie look-a-likes who claim to be for these things (but we know they really aren't).
2
You should seriously check out Democracy at Work and Richard Wolff's deep dive into the embedded problems with UBI. As Sp3nd Coin touched on, UBI has the potential to have a lot of unintended negative consequences to society. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAkzzoQGifE

Yeah I don't agree with Kyle's criticisms of it. The problem was when it was rolled out, there wasn't a sound plan in place to prevent the rampant propaganda against it by conservative media, which, let's be real, is exactly why it's struggled.
1
@Los_Servants Why do you keep spamming this? Kyle literally explained it's just a categorical issue and it's focused on Economic policy, which is why it's called the "Economic Pledge". Nobody is putting it on "the back burner", stop making shit up.
1
The fact that we generally file that under "foreign policy" not "economic policy".
1
Cause everyone knows SJWs are the real threat to the planet and America. God I hope this is a parody account.
1
Kyle explained why that is. It's because it's called the "Economic Pledge", perhaps they will make one for foreign policy as well.
1
Bozorgmehr Bahmani It's gonna be taxed no matter what. Fire departments, schools, road construction, police, and the military are all forms of what you would likely call "socialism". Just so happens that a huge portion of that money goes to the military industrial complex and endless wars. All people are saying is we should end the 17 year long wars in the Middle East and use that money for making sure everyone has healthcare and affordable housing. This is not difficult to understand.

Your avatar name suits you.
1
@arcajeth626 Uh huh, and what exact part are you talking about? The part about banning airplanes, cars, and cow farts?
1
@MommaMolly My point exactly, literally none of that shit was even slightly mentioned in the actual resolution. I was just trying to get the fool to admit that his whole understanding of the GND is based off non-factual Fox News propaganda.
1
@schloops8473 It also just so happens to be what the vast majority of the public is in favor for. Do you think that's a coincidence? Nooo, we should put "a middle ground approach to Climate Change in there" which absolutely no one except Joe Biden want.
1
If you added that, then literally only Bernie Sanders would be on the list, the only 2020 candidate to not vote for any of Trump's military increases.
1
The OFF Act qualifies for the pillar on "A" Green New Deal. It doesn't say "the" Green New Deal. Kyle literally explained this.
1
You can't just cut half their funding like that. You need to ramp down these wars first otherwise you're just leaving thousands of military bases around the world high and dry without any funding to pull back operations. Realistically, I don't think it works like that.
1
UBI does not directly address income inequality. You should watch Richard Wolff's explanation on it, it's what convinced me that UBI, especially Yang's specific UBI, is not the way to fix our economy.
1
He explained it more than once, it's an "Economic Pledge". They may eventually make one for foreign policy.
