I don't really see this as the Pope being hypocritical just because the Bible IS conservative. I've always seen Pope Francis as prioritizing the direct teachings of Jesus over the teachings unreliably passed down through the Bible

@snapgab Some of the translated quotes we have from Jesus are really good and prove he was a socialist before socialism existed. For instance he says it's easier to put a camel through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to get into heaven. Whether you believe in heaven or not, Jesus is saying that if you've been blessed with wealth, it is morally correct to share that wealth with the downtrodden and not just a few thousand on charity, but you should be sharing your wealth until you're no longer a rich man yourself. If all wealthy people did this, the world would be a more prosperous place for everyone & would resemble the world God planned for humanity before Sin and Greed were introduced to Adam and Eve.

@PerishingForLackOfKnowledge Not an expert whatsoever, but I imagine there's a big difference between Old Testament and New Testament specifically because of the impact Jesus had on the world. I'd just file a lot of the New Testament under the Jesus teachings
