Comments by "" (@thehumanity0) on "Noam Chomsky On Biden's Presidency (So Far)" video.
Chomsky made his opinion over and over for the past year that he had zero faith that Biden would do anything & we should expect absolutely nothing from him unless there is a mass effort of activism to force his hand on every issue. This comment from Chomsky makes sense as long as your not ignorant to his previous position & expectations for a neoliberal corporatist president.

And that's not really contradictory to what he's saying here since he elaborates that he's talking about domestic policy & how he's surprised a neoliberal corporatist is slightly better than what your expectations of a neoliberal corporatist would be (Obama or Bill Clinton for example). I have no doubt that people will use these comments to attack Chomsky with, but I don't think they're necessarily untrue, or at the very least, not unreasonable when you consider Chomsky's expectations for Biden were close to none. Chomsky has always said for the past year that Biden isn't going to do a damn thing for workers, Leftists, or average people unless there is a concerted & organized mass effort from activists to pressure him & force his hand, otherwise you can count on him to do nothing.

It's clear that a lot of people here don't understand the context of Chomsky's previous position & his expectations for Joe Biden. He's made the same argument for the past year that he did not think Joe Biden, a neoliberal corporatist, would do a single thing for Leftists or workers unless there was a mass activist effort to organize & pressure the administration to do the right thing, otherwise they would do literally nothing. Chomsky's largely innocuous comment here simply means that he sees Biden, at the very least, taking some initiative on domestic policy, even if it is absolutely inadequate compared to what a Leftist president would try to accomplish, which goes without saying. The context you're missing is that Chomsky's expectations were basically nonexistent for a Biden presidency & just saw him as damage control from more disaster under a neofascist Trump admin. Listen to what he's actually saying in past interviews, rather than just making assumptions that he believed or believes Biden is putting forth "progressive policies" like you say - something he's literally never said.

That was exactly what I was thinking too. When that day comes, it's going to be a colossal tragedy.

@Vicioussama If you seriously believe Noam Chomsky cares about such things, then you really don't know much about him or his work.
