No, that's just how you interpreted it. It's basically a fact that healthcare for all, tuition for all, a living wage, affordable housing, prison reform, and criminal justice reform would disproportionately help black communities over any other community due to the fact that those issues, in reverse, ALREADY disproportionately effect black communities in a negative way in the past. It is the most realistic way to help the black community. "Cutting a check" is up to Congress and it will never happen unless ADOS started a colossal movement to elect representatives that specifically support reparations, which polls at about 38% among the American people and probably nearly 0-1% among politicians. Not to mention MLK Jr. spent the last years of his life working to better the lives of all Americans in poverty, not just a specific portion of black Americans excluding even descendants of Caribbean slaves and all other minorities.

They literally asked him if he supported "reparations" on the View and the first thing Bernie said is "What do you mean by that exactly?", the response from the host was "Money." Wow, how insightful. Also, isn't it funny that we only talk about reparations when the Democratic primary comes around and then we never hear about it ever again?

@Fralab26 Just wait until Dr. Cornell West starts repping Bernie again. He'll convince a lot of people they're being idiots when they specifically only care about "cutting a check", and ignore every other issue in politics that leads to racial inequality and systemic racism.

@JNUMusic From what I've seen, people highly respect him, and for good reason. I'm sure he would even agree on reparations, but wouldn't agree with how it's being weaponized to attack the one politician whose trying to drastically change the system.

@FateofFallacy Half of them are literally just shouting some form of "Cut the Check" like "Cut the Check or Else!!" or "Cut that Check or Enjoy 4 more year of Trump!!".. Yeah it totally sounds like they're basing their argument on empirical data and logic. When you have an entire list of issues on the ADOS platform, and the majority of the ADOS people are literally only focused on the one that involves cash payouts and ONLY that issue, then yeah, there should be a little skepticism about it especially when they're specifically bashing on a candidate that addresses 85% of their platform. Not to mention it's Congress who controls the government's wallet, not the president.

@FateofFallacy Yes I know about the white:black ratio because Bernie Sanders literally talks about it in every one of his speeches! He's probably the only candidate to talk about it because he's the only one with a Bold progressive agenda to reverse it. You're the one who "doesn't understand" this. You clearly don't even understand his platform, yet don't even hesitate to criticize his stance on racial inequality. Also in his plan is addressing criminal justice reform, which also disproportionately effects people of color, AND prison reform, where ACTUAL systemic slavery still exists. Is it not as important to address the slavery happening right now in our criminal justice system? If you're seriously holding out for someone specifically with an agenda that only positively effects ADOS and not even other black people, not even descendants of Caribbean slaves, then I wouldn't hold your breathe for too long. These policies should effect the entire black community that has gone through Jim Crow and segregation, not just specific descendants.
