If you were just supportive of the idea of UBI, I don't think you have as much to be embarrassed about. He made some decent point about it at the time, but personally I never trusted him to follow through as an actual politician and I remember arguing with a lot of leftists in the yang gang to abandon ship. The 2020 primary somehow became way too tribal for everyone's sake and I think that's what led us to lose against the neolibs.

@simpleman72685 I don't think UBI itself is bad policy at all. It just depends how you formulate it. Yang's plan to pay for it by slashing social benefits was objectively a more wealthy and corporate-friendly way to pay for it. If you would do UBI and pay for it with stuff like a wealth tax or raising corporate taxes on high profiting corporations (that still make record-profits to this day), that would actually help the wealth gap while also doing a policy that would benefit the working class.

@simpleman72685 So yeah, his UBI wasn't all bad, but even back then, he was already low-key compromising on policy to benefit the working class, by making the poorest Americans mostly foot the bill.
