@Jackass_Gamer Just because he doesn't call them out by name this early in the primary, doesn't mean he will "play nice with them". Judging by his speeches and rhetoric, Bernie understands the stakes, you're not giving him the credit he deserves. He's gotten us this far.

@Jackass_Gamer If you actually received his letters he sends out to supporters, Bernie is much more open and blunt about directly taking on the establishment. There's a big difference between what he believes and what he's willing to let the media hear on camera. It's entirely a political calculation.

I would also argue that the Democratic elite don't matter as much as the Democratic base. I figure any Morning Joe type Democratic elites that back Trump, will just look like Ted Cruz or Glenn Beck in 2016. The entire base will end up hating their guts by the end of the election for not backing the party.

It's politically correct, but it's also politically calculated. If he calls people out by name this early in the primary, it does him absolutely no favors along with indirectly admitting his nomination would lead to chaos in the party. If the Democratic elites don't want to back Bernie in the general, they will end up just looking like Ted Cruz or Glenn Beck in 2016 anyways. The Democratic base will hate their guts by the end of the election just like how everyone currently hates Howard Schultz.

Kyle, there's a difference between what Bernie believes and what Bernie is willing to say on camera. If you read some of his letters to supporters, you would realize that when he talks directly to his supporters, he's a lot more blunt and open about taking on the establishment than when he chooses his words carefully in front of a camera. Calling him "naive" is pretty unfair considering I very much doubt Bernie actually believes all elites will support him.

Hickenlooper, Howard Schultz, Donnie Douche, and the rest of the Morning Joe Democratic elites will just end up eternally embarrassing themselves by backing Trump over Bernie. They will become the Ted Cruzs and Glenn Becks of 2020. The entire base will hate them by the end of the election.

Bernie's campaign is not based on cynicism, it's literally the opposite.

@ScoopMeisterGeneral Adding cynicism to Bernie's rhetoric is a terrible idea. I hate when people suggest this as if Bernie should be out there yelling about how 2016 was rigged and everything's unfair. It just sounds like you want him to be more like Hillary, blaming everyone but herself for everything. Idealism and hope is why Bernie has widespread support and why his message often resonates stronger than the entire political establishment put together. Also, if you actually read the letters he sends to his supporters, Bernie is much more blunt and open about directly taking on the Democratic establishment compared to what he's willing to say to the media in front of a camera. There's a huge difference between what he believes and what he's willing to say this early in the primary.

They clearly have a shortage of chairs at TYT

Bernie doesn't give a shit about the Democratic elite in Washington. If they want to embarrass themselves (show their true colors) and support Donald Trump in the general, while the overwhelming majority of ex-Hillary, ex-Biden supporters, and the Democratic base support Bernie simply to beat Trump, then it really doesn't matter what the elites do or say. They'll essentially be the Democratic Ted Cruzs and Glenn Becks of 2020.

@ScoopMeisterGeneral Okay, I was assuming a little more than your explanation, but I still entirely believe Bernie fully understands the stakes. I'm a donor to his campaign and receive letters from him from time to time. The things he says in his letters to small dollar donors reflects completely that he understands the entire establishment is working against him in a plethora of ways. Both openly and secretly. There is a real difference between his direct and blunt rhetoric when he talks directly to his contributors vs when he picks his words carefully in an interview, I've seen it myself. A good example of this is when Beto started his campaign and Bernie sent out a letter basically telling people Beto likely had a small donor count and insinuated he was using big money bundlers opposed to the hundreds of thousands of donors Bernie has. However, Bernie only made his suspicions clear to his supporters, he did not talk about it to the media because I doubt it would've done him any favors. I think this situation is similar. We can debate on his exact strategy and how direct he should be when talking to the media, but it's pretty clear that Bernie knows there are certain people who are going to work against him until the very end. He's essentially a veteran of getting smeared by the media and working against the establishment, it's been going on nonstop for 4 years now, so it would be incredibly shocking if Bernie didn't understand the layout of the land by this point.
