They're not mutually exclusive. FJG is a part of his Green New Deal and making companies compete for labor; the goals don't cancel each other out for whatever reason. Please explain how they're at odds with each other.

If she's stays in until the convention, there is literally no way that would help Bernie. If she won state delegates, then maybe she could give a few to Bernie at the convention, but at this point she's only pulling votes from Bernie like it or not.

@JeffNotes FJG vs UBI has always been a false dichotomy. I say this even with Yang out of the race. A job's guarantee is something proposed to implement the Green New Deal, but it's existence is also to drive up wages by making corporations compete for labor & the higher wages. UBI is not at odds with those goals just like it is not at odds with Single Payer healthcare or tuition free public college/trade school.

@JeffNotes That's mainly why it's been such a talking point, primarily among Yang Gang people. When you compare UBI to federal jobs, of course it sounds less appealing, but the point isn't to give everyone a gov't job, it's to make companies compete for labor & drive up wages. Bernie's implementation involves transitioning to 100% renewable energy and the elimination of the fossil fuel industry (because we sort of have to). I could sit here and compare the benefits of either one, but that would be silly because they're totally different just like if I were to compare UBI vs Single Payer healthcare. Having both would be preferable in both scenarios, and all of them compliment each other considering most people will still want a job with wages, that aren't stagnant in growth, and potentially a basic income in case you ever lose that job. Same thing with Single Payer just as you already have in Canada.

@jabs0907 Only way Bernie is a one term president is if he has medical conditions that stop him from doing his job. If he beats Trump, his popularity will skyrocket and he'll be viewed as a hero. The moment he legalizes Cannabis, brings troops home from Iraq/Afghanistan and aggressively tackles Climate Change, he'll be even more popular I think, even if he can't push through Medicare for All through the Senate. A president can do a lot when they don't have corporate overlords telling them what to do.

@presidentresident Just curious, who exactly do you think she has cross-appeal with if not Bernie? You do realize all the other candidates besides Bernie's base thinks she's the villain of this primary right. And no I never supported Warren, I've been hoping she dropped out and endorsed Bernie ever since she announced her candidacy (even though she announced first). My only bias in this race is in regards to actually winning and beating the establishment candidates. Can't do that if Warren splits the progressive vote & to a lesser extent that's how I feel about Tulsi. Sorry if that offends you, but personally my only desire is winning & always has been. If Tulsi had broke out early on or if Bernie had dropped out after medical issues, I would've been devastated but I'd probably be supporting her right now if she had the best shot at winning and implementing the policies I want. For the record, I liked Tulsi infinitely more than anything I liked about Yang. Your assumption that Bernie supporters don't like Tulsi is absurd considering how many are calling for her as VP or Secretary of State.

@presidentresident You're obviously alluding to low-information voters, the same people who have Biden as their #1 & Bernie as their #2. They vote based on name recognition just as Kyle has said on this show for a long time (they're also the only people that get polled). The people that are politically active, follow this channel or stay informed clearly have wildly different opinions so it's pretty absurd to just assume they're all the same as low-information voters. If you've talked to people on this channel long enough or followed Kyle on Twitter, you would know this shit. Maybe you should concern troll to the low information voters, but I doubt they really care about this. However, what you shouldn't do is pretend like all Bernie supporters are the same & that a Bernie supporter that follows Joe Rogan is the same as a voter who is not policy-oriented and deciding between Bernie, Klobuchar, & Steyer, as there are those people out there who just don't follow politic that closely.

More accurately, I think Bernie doesn't agree with the way Yang's UBI is crafted. There's a chance they could be working on their own UBI and crafting it in a more progressive way that fits the ideology of MLK Jr. rather than Milton Friedman (like Yang crafted his).

He also has a huge policy that ends the war on whistleblowers. I think you know all this because I see you making this point all the time without giving context on Bernie's actual policy points.

@enriqueflorendo The problem many (not all) Bernie supporters had with Yang's UBI was that it didn't go far enough and it left people out who were already receiving gov't assistance. Nobody "mocked" it, we had specific policy disagreements with it, but whatever.

Mongoose 1980 He has 2 single paragraphs on why UBI wouldn't cause "rampant inflation". He literally admits in his explanation that it would "likely" cause prices to increase. "It is likely that some companies will increase their prices in response to people having more buying power, and a VAT would also increase prices marginally." And then he finishes it off by claiming the free market will sort itself out: "However, there will still be competition between firms that will keep prices in check." Competition in the market fixing itself is something that has always been said regarding 1980s Reagonomics/Trickle Down Economics. That's not a convincing argument. The fact that Yang backed off Single Payer healthcare, meant that the real debate was UBI ("Human-Centered Capitalism") vs a Basic Standard of Living ie what Scandinavian countries have with a robust social safety net.

Honestly I think he's just co-opting Yang Gang's own framing to try to appeal to them, but even Mike from Humanist Report has been frustrated with the framing saying that he supports both FJG and UBI, there's nothing that stops them from existing together & FJG is good for making companies compete for labor and raising wages, it's not a replacement for UBI in any way.

The thing is that even if she stays in the race until the convention, if she doesn't win any delegates, there's no strategy there where that benefits the left. So far she's not even close to being viable in any state (NH was probably her best chance at viability) even when you add ALL Yang's support onto hers. Her staying in the race and taking Yang's votes only hurts Bernie.

@Blasto2x Bernie has just as many policies that are interconnected to one another. His policy to legalize Marijuana is like 20 policies in 1 that are basically reparations for the war on drugs and new Jim Crowe. His policies on trade are incredibly complex and require a ton of different implementations. His Green New Deal is a never-ending barrage of policy decisions to transform the country.

FJG & wealth tax are only 2 policies out of long list, and whether you agree with them or not, their purpose to help workers, decrease income inequality and raise wages. The fact that your deal breaker is something with good intentions says a lot.

I think you get the idea.

Not sure why you wouldn't offer it to people making over $200,000 a year. That's what makes it "universal" and more popular/harder to dismantle. Besides that's not that many more people above that income. Reminds me of Mayo Cheat's "College for some" bs
