@buddygrimfield7954 Technically the US didn't do it for the UK or France either. We did it because we saw the real threat the Axis Powers presented and knew that if the UK fell & the Russians were on the ropes, eventually the next place the war would be fought would be on American soil, ie what happened in Pearl Harbor, which is what eventually broke the US's isolationism. In other words, the US did it for selfish reasons just as much as the Russians, the Nazis & Axis Powers were seen as a world threat.

Firstly I don't think Kyle Has "bashed" Tulsi on her Ukraine position and also he partially criticizes Waters here for not mentioning Russia's aggression and their invasion starting the war. Secondly, Tulsi's been criticized cause she goes as far to say the Ukrainians shouldn't even try defending against the Russians and should basically just give Russia everything they want, despite the fact that Ukraine defending against Russia would actually strengthen their position for a compromise. I'm all for ending the war and pushing diplomacy, but the idea of telling Ukraine to drop their weapons and not even fight to keep their land is just a slap in the face to the Ukrainian people, who, whether you acknowledge it or not, are the ones being invaded by a foreign aggressor. It should also be noted as well that Waters is trusted far more as being heavily anti-war, while Tulsi has flipped on her supposed convictions and nonexistent principles overnight and openly advocated for bombing children in Afghanistan cause she think the US should save the airfare from sending soldiers their to kill their targets in person.

I do think Waters should've gone further to condemn both the US and especially Russia for invading, but the core of his argument is that the US should be pushing for diplomacy, not ramping up tensions and pushing billions of dollars in weapons to Ukraine to kill more Russians. There's a reason the UN just said we're one step away from Nuclear Annihilation.

He's just saying you gotta condemn both aggressors, especially the one that invaded to begin with initially kicking off the war in a violent and militaristic way. Waters likely just wanted to keep the focus and emphasis on ending the war though and not so much on whose fault it is as Smerconish is doing (even bringing up the Nazis and Pearl Harbor for whatever stupid reason). If Waters wanted to get his point across to these smooth brain neoliberals though, he probably should've condemned Russia's aggression as well in the same conversation even though it's obvious he's anti-war and strongly disapproves of the invasion.
