  2. Americans know enough (likely through personal experiences) to understand the police are basically just gangs of thugs but ignorant enough to think the National Guard is on their side.

  3. It's just ignorance. Last time I checked the Kent State massacre wasn't the police, it was when the National Guard was brought in. Problem is, it's been awhile since the National Guard had to be deployed in the streets.
