Trucking isn't going to get replaced for a long long time. They're not just there to drive the truck, they're also looking after the cargo and it's a job where you could run into a thousand different complications. They're not gonna leave expensive amounts of cargo unmanned.

Trucking won't be replaced for a long long time. They're not just driving the trucks, they're looking after the cargo. Sure, Uber and Lyft will be replaced in maybe a decade but those jobs are crap to begin with where you don't get healthcare and most of the drivers work part-time.

That's not necessarily automation, that's just technology advancements in general, something that's been happening since the beginning of mankind. Before automation, it was Y2K, the internet and semi-conductors, before that it was the assembly line, before that the printing press, and so on. This is nothing new and people in the industry are literally telling you that people are getting way ahead of themselves in terms of automation (I'm a software engineer btw).

@lamdao1242 Trucking isn't going to get automated for a very long time. Truckers aren't just driving the vehicles, they're looking after the cargo and dealing with complications, checkpoints, and anything else they need to do to prioritize the safety and security of their usually expensive load of cargo. Even if they automated the driving, they would still have someone ride along with the cargo.

@blaynegreiner9365 People think taxes need to be increased because Amazon doesn't pay a cent in federal taxes. Taxes on the middle class and poor need to be lowered while taxes on the very top need to be increased, just as things were in the 1950s during a golden age of economic expansion (and not just in the stock market and among the rich).

Where did he say he was anti-Yang? All he's doing is giving his professional opinion about where automation is now and where exactly it will be in a few decades. Take it or leave it.

@dekaaizer2550 "it's still needed really hard." So is dealing with Climate Change, income inequality and a multitude of other issues. Sometimes you gotta prioritize what's important to society. Some of the thing Donald Trump even pointed out were major factors like outsourcing and China screwing us with jobs. Prioritizing the thing that scientists still don't necessarily agree on with Yang (and when/if it would be a serious detriment on workers) is a debatable conversation at best.
