If people could live relaxing leisurely lives, we would already be there by now. In the 1950s, families used to generally have financially comfortable lives with only one parent working while the other stayed at home & raised the children. These days, the new normal is both parents working each with their own jobs & usually it is essential for their survival when having to pay for one or more dependents. The idea that the working class is doing better financially in 2021 than in 1953 is an illusion created by this shift in families now being forced to bring in a double income rather than a single income. Workers are likely doing far worse financially when you consider wages have been stagnant and inflation has skyrocketed prices since the 50s including a rental & housing crisis.
