I mean, the title of her video literally refers to it as "barbaric". Are you really splitting hairs over this?

Technically that's better than separations, I think that's the point she was briefly trying to make, but it's evident the vastly larger point is that it's a barbaric trend that needs to be snuffed out.

@oarguello What is the "BS"? It's pretty clear that Trump's policy was more barbaric than Obama and Biden even if it's a gross ongoing trend & human rights violations that we need to snuff out entirely. If you can't even admit that there was a difference in the level of severity, then I don't think your operating from a place of unbias. During the Trump era, there were literally stories being broken about how ICE was using slave labor, or how there were forced sterilization surgeries going on at the border facilities. Just the most backwards shit you could think of, in addition to ICE and border patrol warrantlessly searching people's property for illegals & usually with the officers wearing plain clothes. I haven't seen or heard of things like this going on since the Biden admin took over, so I can't, in good conscience, make a valid argument that Biden and Trump are the same on this. I'd also argue that you should make this comparison at least a year into Biden's administration, so we can truly see his intentions on immigration, not just the possibly sloppy cleanup of Trump's mess.

@Dan0TheMano Wow you're just full of assumptions & no sources to back it up. Do some actual research on the differences between border policy between Obama and Trump instead of just insisting that deportations = draconian policy like separations & more. Family separations sometimes happened under Bush and Obama since Border Patrol would take certain liberties, but there was no blanket policy to prosecute parents and separate children from them. Trump's "zero tolerance" policy was when this cruel practice became law and was ramped up as a systemic feature of the immigration process, not just a bug that happened from time to time due to some shitty Border Patrol officers. This argument is silly if you can't even acknowledge blatant differences in the law itself during these time periods. Anyways, I'm getting tired of being purposefully taken out of context by you just so you can play the guilt game when I've already made it clear that I don't condone what's happening at the Border either under Trump or Biden, however you keep playing the "Leftier than Thou" game just because I won't completely ignore obvious differences in policy between a neoliberal and neofascist government, the latter of which literally came into power by famously saying all Mexicans coming across the border are rapists and drug dealers, that they needed to build a Wall, & has theatrically deployed the National Guard to the border twice. I'm done with this conversation.

@Dan0TheMano Good grief. I didn't say the "concentration camps" are different now. I said the aggressive practices by ICE seem to have been toned down or are nonexistent at the moment & that it's only fair to give Biden at least a year into his presidency before we start tying his noose over all the barbaric facilities on the border that he essentially inherited from the last administration. & yes, I know this has been going on & started with George W. Bush, but that doesn't mean the border policy was the exact same level of cruelty under Obama and Trump - if you think that, then you're just lying to yourself or working backwards from your conclusion. It's good to criticize and go after Biden's inaction & lack of policy regarding these things, but at least do so fairly otherwise liberals are never going to listen to a word you say.

@Dan0TheMano Acknowledging that there is, indeed, a difference between Trump and Biden/Obama is just acknowledging reality. You're just a hack if you can't even admit there's differences between a moderate Republican status quo manager and a neofascist gangster that has instigated insurrections on Washington. And what I said about not being able to evaluate an administration's policies and political intent/Will until a year into their presidency is just basic common sense which is why I likened it to not being able to evaluate a president's impact on the economy until a year into their presidency. You can shove all your ridiculous shaming about "killing people" right up your ass.

@sieglindeeilserv8853 I mean, I'm all for constructive criticism. I do think AOC makes mistakes quite a bit and needs to be reminded of her roots, but what some people do just goes way way beyond that & is only destructive & counterproductive to actual left-wing goals. This is even more so the case with other progressive Congressmembers and even organizations like DSA, Sunrise or even Bernie. Constantly attacking & turning our backs on all these people and organizations is the equivalent of turning our backs on any Left progress that's been made for the last 6-7 years. This is the actual intent of a few who would rather see all that energy taken & put into starting a 3rd party (even though that process has an extraordinarily low success rate), but the rest who are doing this & actually care about the policy outcomes are making foolish mistakes by only further disjointing any combined front of activism & any real establishment opposition we have in Washington - that's why, when politicians & organizations don't fight harder, you pressure them to do better & encourage that behavior, not immediately jump to attacks, smears, or publicly exclaiming to cross them off as corporate shills. How do people not understand yet that this only hurts us & plays right into the establishment's hands? Honestly, my faith and outlook for the Left is lower than it's ever been. There needs to be a united front Now more than ever if real progress is to be achieved, but people are too busy fighting, splitting hairs over innocuous shit like this, & seem to care far more about bashing AOC in every way imaginable rather than trying to work with her or anyone else for that matter.
