Bernie was always better than everybody. It's Bernie 2020 or Bust. Anything else is white noise especially Gabbard. If she wants to ensure that a small portion of Bernie's votes are split then that's her business, but I doubt she'll get much progressive support over it especially after shit like this.

@Philly Special95 I want to make this clear though, that I would still support Tulsi Gabbard if there were no other progressives running in the race, however comparing her to Bernie Sanders there is no question of who to support. Sanders has proved himself time and time again while Gabbard has a somewhat shaky past, and definitely shaky views on some issues and far-right ties. I specifically find the views on torture to be unforgivable and she has not retracted those views as of yet. This interview with Gabbard is just another reason why Bernie is far superior as a candidate and politician. I still support her in Congress and possibly as a cabinet member of a Sanders administration, but she should not be president over Bernie, not at all, and not to mention Bernie is a million times more name recognition and is far more electable than Gabbard, so really the question of Gabbard being president doesn't even matter at the end of the day.

@donHooligan Exactly, this is what I've been saying for months. It is just sheer harsh reality that Bernie is going to be the front-runner for progressives and essentially the entire Democratic Party (maybe he'll be challenged by Biden). Backing these other progressives who are basically nobodies outside of progressive circles is only going to hurt progressives and help them lose in the election and split votes, this is what Kyle Kulinski has also been saying for the past year as well. Ojeda, Gabbard, Yang, Warren, I'm glad they're all gonna be spreading their message on the debate stage, but hoping that one of them is going to overcome the neoliberal challenger (or even Trump) is just a pipedream and it's only asking for a repeat of 2016 where progressives just barely "had it". It's Bernie all the way, he did the leg work in 2016, he's a household name, and he's the type of politician who only comes around every 100 years just like FDR. Anything else and we get Trump for another 4 years, and that's a seriously scary fucking thought. Bernie 2020 or BUST.

Almost every politician in Washington is pro-Israel, the thing that does it for me is her position on torture and her ties to far-right Hindu nationalists. Also, Mike Figueredo has made a leftist argument on how she personally still thinks gay people are an abomination (as she made it clear her personal views have not changed in an interview only a year or 2 ago even though she votes with popular demand). I think this is a valid criticism especially when you consider that she promoted gay conversion therapy, but as I said before, her pro-torture views bullshit is the deal-breaker for me.

@Catloves997 For the record, I said the LGBT issue was one of the lesser important criticisms of Gabbard and will remain as such unless something else surfaces on her record. I just added that I think given her personal views, it IS a valid criticism nonetheless. Go watch Humanist Report's breakdown and he is convincing about it. I did not think this was a relevant criticism before he explained his views on it and how instinctively a politician like Bernie Sanders or other progressives that have a good record and good personal views on the LGBT community is better than someone who has a good record but still has highly questionable personal views on the topic. On this issue, progressives like Bernie, Yang, and Warren are much more preferable than someone who promoted gay conversion therapy. At the very least, they're better for their electability in the Democratic primary alone. However, as I said before, this was a lesser important issue for me even after Mike Figueredo explained his views. What was the deal-breaker was that video that came out where she promoted the use of torture.

@Catloves997 Yeah I'm still not at all saying Warren is somehow better than Gabbard overall, just better on the issue of LGBT rights, which again, is not even in the upper percentile of important issues for me, but still sympathize for progressives that it is an important issue for. However, from the way the mainstream media covers Gabbard, you would think she's a dictator-loving terrorist. The absolute worst arguments they've made are about Assad and Syria. I stand by my analysis that there are extremely hacky and desperate smears on Gabbard by mainstream press, while there are also serious criticisms and concerns such as the torture issue, ties to far-right Hindu nationalists, and her absurd anti-Palestinian views ('How dare Hamas use women and children as human shields'), and then there are criticisms that remain in the middle such as the LGBT issue, which depending on who is using it, can either be a valid criticism or a ridiculous smear.

This has been my biggest concern ever since seeing countless people saying "Gabbard 2020". I've barely ever seen her talk and get active in politics and people were supporting her for the past 2 years for her voting record alone. Now that she's speaking regularly and people are highlighting her past, it seems those concerns were well warranted. To think that people were trying to make the case that she would be a better president than Bernie or was somehow a better progressive entirely.
