Honestly, I think it's in spite of being Jewish rather than because he's Jewish. If he wasn't Jewish and didn't have personal/religious feelings towards Israel, he probably would've said this even sooner. I don't think Bernie has ever been scared of being labeled as racist, sexist, or anti-semitic by the propagandist mainstream media. He probably has mixed feeling over Israel though more than the average non-Jewish American.

What's funny is that I bet a lot of the money we give to them in aid then gets put back into funding pro-Israel lobbying groups that only exist to do legalized bribery and corrupt our own government.

@snowstrobe He generally just has personal feelings over it. From what I've heard, Bernie has lived in Israel at one point in his life. If it wasn't for his moral compass and his informed knowledge on the Israel Palestine conflict (also not buying into media propaganda like everyone else), he would likely be firmly in the camp of pro-Israel people rather than the principled stance he takes here.
