He supports Medicare for All and a Value Tax on all goods. Funny how when Andrew Yang does it, the conservatives and right-wingers support him, but when Bernie unapologetically calls for a better healthcare system partially run by the government and a higher marginal income tax, the right-wingers freak out and claim "he wants to turn America in Venezuela". Yang's appeal to right-wingers just exposes how vapid and hallow their criticisms are of Bernie Sanders.

It's Bernie's time man. If you try to "meme Yang to the presidency" it will be 2016 all over again. Bernie's the front-runner while still being the underdog, and he's the perfect silver bullet to Trump. Think about the bigger picture.

@FilipinoHODL Are you fucking seriously downplaying the threat of Climate Change? 12 years mate. 12 years until there is irreparable damage to the Earth. Also, you have no idea what you're talking about. Individuals cannot address the issue of climate change. It needs top-down reform. 10 companies in the entire world cause more than 70% of the adverse effects of Climate Change, there needs to be political pressure on these companies immediately if you want to stop these companies, individual change is only trivial in comparison, and even if every single person on Earth removed their carbon footprint, it still wouldn't stop Climate Change's rate of increase until those 10 companies are regulated.

I disagree, they will let Yang pass UBI, but they will make him compromise and remove things like the Value Tax and completely take Medicare for All off the table. When you take those two things away, UBI becomes a right-wing libertarian and neoliberal wet dream, because it leaves class inequality how it is now, doesn't step on any toes of powerful industries, destroys the social safety net completely (that Republicans have been trying to do for decades), and leaves allowances for citizens in its place. UBI is a disaster without the VAT and Medicare for All already implemented (and there's no promise that it would work even with those things). I don't see why powerful interests won't try to hijack Yang's UBI to convert us into a Capitalist dystopia.

@FilipinoHODL Bernie directly addresses Climate Change and class inequality. How are those issues "not with the times"? How is automation more of a threat than Climate Change and 4 billionaires having more wealth than half the country?

@austinm419 There was widespread appeal of Bernie in 2016 from conservatives. The only reason they get "triggered" by him now is because of the constant propaganda from Fox News about "Socialism". You don't think Fox will do that same propaganda against Yang if he starts getting more attention? He's pushing UBI and a Value Tax and has Medicare for All in his platform. The only reason they haven't started smearing him yet is because he's only polling at 1%. Tucker Carlson gave him a favorable interview, but Carlson has also given Bernie favorable coverage as well in the past. All you're doing is taking us back to square 1 in 2016. I remember Bernie Sanders Dank Memes very well, it didn't "meme him to the presidency" back then and it won't with Yang now, especially since Bernie is so close to winning already. I think most people will see it this way, especially since many people, like me, already find Bernie as a better alternative to Yang. Yang's UBI bill has some problems with it, it's mainly funded by slashing social programs like Social Security and basically just giving poor people an option between one or the other, which doesn't exactly get some people out of poverty, it just changes the source of where their getting their funds. I think you would be surprised of how much his plan doesn't lessen income inequality, just puts a band aid on it and appeases workers with raw cash. Not to mention if he tried to pass UBI right away, he would probably have to compromise on the one good thing in the bill, the VAT, which has the least chance of getting through Congress, while slashing social programs would 100% get pushed through because Republicans have been trying to slash things like Social Security and remove welfare entirely for decades.

He's literally polling at 1%. Progressives should be focused on Bernie if they want to win, otherwise we will have a repeat of 2016.

@Patrick Parcivel First of all, that's irrelevant with what I just said. "A repeat of 2016". How does Republican support help Yang beat the neoliberal in the primary? Do you want Biden or Harris to win? Bernie is the front-runner right now, if you forfeit that progress, there is the potential that a neoliberal scoots by and either loses to Trump or becomes the next white-washed president. Also, Bernie had widespread support among conservatives and independents in 2016. I have a hard time believing that Republicans will vote for any Democratic nominee over Trump. The real key lies with Independents and Bernie does phenomenally with Independents.

@Patrick Parcivel He's gotten far more coverage already than Bernie received in 2016 and he's still only polling at 1%. This isn't going to be like 2016 for Yang, the Democratic field is packed and Bernie already has the heart of progressives and the majority of the Democratic Party. I don't see any circumstance where Yang ends up winning the primary. IF he gained sizable support, it would only hurt Bernie and help the neoliberal candidate win, whose supporters would neither go for Bernie or Yang. Also, Yang's supporters make it seems like automation is the biggest threat to the world, but Bernie directly focuses on Climate Change and class inequality, which to most seem like much greater threats at the moment considering 4 people own more wealth than half the country and the Earth is going to have irreparable damage in 11-12 years from Climate Change. Automation is a looming threat, but not the biggest one, and many of Bernie's policies somewhat already address this problem and pave the way for a future where UBI is an actual potential goal we can achieve in a less corrupt system with a decent social safety net already in place.
