I am one of the only millennials I know who votes and nearly all my friends either don't see it as an important thing, they see it as too much work to go through the trouble of registering and taking time out their day to vote, or more realistically many of them are just so poor that they don't even have valid drivers licenses/passports (from moving to a new state) or they work almost every day of the week so they don't have the time to go vote even if they wanted to. Poor people are massively disenfranchised especially when you have record amount of voter suppression today and young people likely make up a large portion of workers who make $30,000 a year or less and can't afford a $400 surprise expense. They likely give up on voting before the elections' even approach because they know they have more important stuff to do when they already work 6-7 days a week for shit wages.

Young voters are particularly disenfranchised almost as much as poor minority communities in some cases just because young people make up a large portion of the workers making $30,000 a year or less and those who can't afford a $400 surprise cost. I don't know of any other of my friends who vote besides myself and maybe one of my clients around my age who also has a good job. Several of my friends don't even have valid drivers licenses or registration on their cars because it's almost an unnecessary cost compared to rent and bills, so it's easy to see how they sometimes don't even have the option to register for an election especially with the record amounts of voter suppression going on in many areas around the country.
