@syzyphyz People pay into Social Security and Medicare dumbass, besides it doesn't change the fact that 40% of Americans can't afford a $400 surprise expense without having to take a loan out and over half of the population makes $30,000 a year or less. The top .1% of the population has more wealth than the bottom 90%. If you think we "already" have the ideal form of social programs in a country where a person could have 3 jobs and still not be able to feed their family, then you have no idea what the fuck you're talking about even in the slightest.

@syzyphyz Not to mention, Medicare polls above 85% and Social Security polls around 91% approval in the country, so you're literally trying to argue against the overwhelmingly most popular programs in the country that ACTUALLY work. If you tried to take away either of these programs you would be laughed at and told to fuck off by 91% of the country.

@syzyphyz Let me reiterate just in case you're too stupid to understand that first sentence. People pay taxes that go into funding their own Social Security and Medicare so they can get it back later in life, so claiming "50% of US federal taxes go to Social Security and Medicare" is completely ignoring the other half of the spectrum of the money that goes into those programs from the people that get it back, do you understand or do I need to explain even more?

@syzyphyz Social Security started almost 100 years ago under FDR, so what the fuck does it matter how it "started", you clearly don't understand the modern-day concept of it. It's embedded in the system. If you stopped it right now, you would basically be robbing people of money that they spent to pay into Social Security all their lives. This is how a civilized society works and how our society functions by working when you're younger and being able to have money saved up when you're too old to work. What about his do you not understand? I'm trying to talk to you about the distinctions of an effective Social Democracy like the Scandinavian model, yet you don't even understand how Social Security works (or are willfully ignoring it's simple functions) and are trying to discredit the 100 year program by claiming it's a "debt program" based on how it started in the fucking 1930s.
