@chrisspillman8095 It's just a genuine quality too. People laugh at their own jokes cause they want to amuse themselves and laugh even if nobody else does. It's a quirk in people I highly respect cause it just means they love life & love to laugh

Mad props to Shane for not falling into the pattern of just railing against cancel culture all the time. So many comedians do it and it's become so tedious. Despite Shane having an actual reason to add it to his stand up, he never does because he just wants to do fun comedy and leave personal grievances and political opinions out of it. Maximum respect.

Some of the funniest comedians I've seen laugh at their own jokes. It just makes for a good time. If someone can't amuse themselves, how are they going to amuse other people. It's completely a genuine quality in people who love to laugh

@youropionmattersnot That's why it's commendable to not insert one's own shitty political opinions into their stand-up

I give him mad respect for also not adding it to his stand up and always taking a hands off approach on cancel culture, despite actually having a good reason to talk about it. Guy just wants to do comedy and not rail on political opinions and personal grievances - other comedians should learn from him cause I find the cancel culture bits so tedious

Yeah that part about how he doesn't want anything to do with the cancel culture conversation made me respect him so much more. So many comedians fall into the trap of always talking about it cause they have personal grievances and political opinions about it, but that brand of comedy is so tedious and drawn out and a lot of it just comes off as whiny imo. Mad props to Shane for just being like "meh, it happens".

Shane Gillis is too good for Dave Chappelle too. Chappelle has become lazy and lost so much of his spark, meanwhile Gillis gets better every appearance he has

It's what happens when one naturally funny person meets a naturally unfunny person. Impenetrable wall vs unstoppable object.

MusaLdn Yeah, I can't remember the last time Joe Rogan ever made me laugh. He's 100% naturally unfunny and his only saving grace is the funny cause it's true bits, but even that kind of stuff has degraded quite a bit over the years.

@onamattapeeya Agreed, it's just layers of people whining. People whine to get people canceled, then people whine about the people whining and on and on it goes. We live in a culture now of outrage hunters trying to monetize anything for clicks and everyone involved are guilty of being "snowflakes". Respect Shane for just side-stepping it all and doing the edgy comedy he wants to do.

It's also refreshing to have someone whose soooo controversial in his comedy while also just refusing to take any political sides or inject personal political opinions in comedy. Other comedians should learn from him
