The top federal prosecutor in Manhattan has resigned in the dispute over corruption allegations against New York Mayor Eric Adams. Danielle Sassoon, a Republican, refused to comply with a Justice Department order to drop charges against Adams and instead tendered her resignation, a spokesman for the state attorney general's office said. Before she resigned, Sassoon told U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi that she was "convinced" that Adams committed the crimes. “I continue to be baffled by the hasty and perfunctory process by which this decision was reached,” Sassoon wrote in a letter to Bondi. Sassoon urged Bondi to reconsider the order to drop Adams' case.
