@jeangenie68 Well I read somewhere that our uk heating costs are the highest in the world . Paying for wind turbines that half of the time aren't working because apparently we can't store the power that they generate. Who knows, with climate change or ppl messing about with the weather, we may end up with no wind to drive them and no sun for the solar panels. 😵💫

@MJ-tg7wv Some of we oldies didn't. My dad was a coal miner so we had coal as part of his wages so we could keep one room warm. We had bad winters here in the U.K in the 50s and 60s. I remember having a bath with the bathroom windows iced over, inside and out. You couldn't see for the steam. You'd struggle to open a window to let the steam out as they were metal frames, which the ice loved as the window stuck. Walls were painted in oil based gloss paint to resist the water. No duvets....woollen blankets. We'd trudge through the deep snow to school and then put our hats, scarves, gloves under or the heater or on the radiators if you were lucky. We took indoor shoes to save us wearing wet ones all day....unless you had pumps as we called them. Morning break was a small bottle of milk, the tops risen above the bottle as the milk was frozen and so expanded. In the afternoon we had educational quizzes, and if there was milk left over, your reward for winning was defrosted milk or maybe a sweet. That's for starters, but we were all happy. That's just a glimpse for people who would be interested.

@ceciljohnrhodes4987 oh yes? Regarding what exactly ? Wind farms in Cornwall blot the landscape. Not working on some windy days. So frustrating! Because it can't be stored . I was told this by someone in the know. Why so many then?

@tziirkq love it!!!!!

@mascarenhas9624 Here in the u.k I do also. The grey, dull sky and dampness is so depressing. Trying to drive on icy roads, and rain that the car windscreen wipers can't cope with. Snow is beautiful to look at but this country struggles to keep the roads clear and we only have a few inches. God help us if we ever had the snow that some countries have.

@ptonpc Thank you 😀 We just don't know what to believe these days.😒

@carolbridges6484 I've helped in a food bank actually. You never said that you used sand for financial reasons, so I'm sorry if I caused offence. I was thinking from a strictly practical point of view.

Well, if it lasts for years, what's the problem? Maybe you do something that others would consider wasteful.. I'd rather the bag of rice spring a leak. I would rather clean up the rice than sand.

@robogal1 it's a dreadful situation to be in. We're in our mid 70s and heat one room and the bathroom during day time. Thankfully, we can afford to do it but we know many who can't. My neighbour in her 80s always has a red nose in winter because she can't afford to heat her home. She's too proud to come and sit with us. Mind you as much as we feel sorry for ourselves here in the uk, we appreciate that people in colder countries have a bigger struggle.

@pabblo1156 Yes, it's ridiculous. In the uk, we have natural gas, North Sea oil and coal resources but someone in their wisdom thought it would be clever to spend lots of money and energy building wind farms and solar panels which rely on inconsistent weather .....Which cost a lot of energy and materials to make and will eventually have to be replaced, taking more energy to recycle them and to build new. Not to mention how these things affect wildlife. Soon, the cows will be replaced by artificial meat and milk...it's started. We'll have no pollinators because insects are getting fewer because of chemicals. Oh dear! I'm off on a rant.....sorry 🤭
