AMD, Congratulations to the FJ's owner for their choice of a manual. I believe the FJ manual offered full time 4WD like a Land Cruiser or Lexus GX. Let's hope a manual 4Runner or Land Cruiser FJ is coming soon. 🤞🤞

Everyone in the Salt Belt knows winter is coming and the roads will be salted. If we choose to rustproof our vehicles with any number of credible products, they will remain perfectly solid. If we choose to neglect basic preventative maintenance we know our vehicles will rot. Rust = Neglect.

@onenikkione I have been driving in Ontario for 43 years. The car I bought new in 2005 remains rust free because I take it to Krown rustproofing every year. Just like regular oil changes, rustproofing is fundamental preventative maintenance in the Salt Belt. Letting your expensive car rust away due to neglect is a choice not an inevitability. BTW there may be other products that are as good as Krown but as the host of the channel says - if it ain't broke don't fix it.

The FJ has a unique frame and wheelbase which was shorter than Prado/4Runner but longer than the 3 door Prado. I would take the high visibility and coherent design of the 3 door Prado over the 'quirky' FJ.

Krown Rustproofing is an excellent product when applied annually.

Watch the video he made about his wife's new GX to get all the answers.

There is a video on this channel dedicated to that PCV valve change on the 2.5 engine.

Rust is a choice. I am in the middle of the Salt Belt and my 19 year old car has no rust because I have chosen to rustproof it.

I hope the next 4Runner or the upcoming Land Cruiser FJ will offer a manual option.

RWD in a SUV or pickup will still provide good towing performance. A FWD CUV on a boat launch can be scary.

That is an excellent summary of the reasons the FJ Cruiser eventually failed. What really bothers me is that Toyota had a simply styled 2 door Prado they could have brought to us as their base 4X4 and we got the FJ instead. 🤨 It looks like the upcoming Land Cruiser FJ will provide a more affordable 4X4 alternative without the overindulgent idiosyncrasies of the FJ Cruiser. 😁

When we consider the FJ was a cheaper alternative to a 4Runner, it is clear the idiosyncratic design alienated a lot of potential buyers.

Great question!

I really don't know how it got off the drawing board and into production with its ridiculous compromises. Worst of all, Toyota could have sent us their classically styled 2 door Prado to serve as their base 4X4 but we got the FJ instead.

My Toyota is rust free in its 19th Ontario winter because it receives an annual treatment with a credible rustproofing product. Rust = Neglect.

Bring back the Avensis!!!
1
Properly? The Wrangler, Bronco and Defender open the other way.

We are hoping the next 4Runner offers manual again.
1
The original owner neglected to rustproof their investment. A quality rustproofing product stops the rust before it ever starts.
1
Yes. If Toyota had sent us the 2 door Prado as their base 4X4 instead of this 'styling exercise', it would have had a much more enduring appeal.
1
I believe the manual was the only version of the FJ that offered permanent 4WD like a Land Cruiser, Lexus GX and LX.

@ositoelosito3424 I know AMD has some clients that bring their cars from a long distance away.

That delusion is a classic case of belief being confused with fact. The yearly sales figures speak for themselves. Despite the fact the FJ was cheaper than a 4Runner, people coughed up the extra cash to get the practicality/visibility of the 4Runner. The upcoming Land Cruiser FJ seems to have learned the lesson though its D Pillar is still slightly oversized.

He has a couple of videos that will answer your question on pricing. His shop location is outside of Chicago.

Bring back the Oldsmobile Cutlass!!!🥳🥳

Bring back the Avensis!!!
1
That is the exact reason FJ sales faded to nothing while the practical 4Runner went from strength to strength.

@jkk244 I regularly watch a channel called Friends Automotive from Dubai just to see the Toyotas we cannot buy. 2 door and 4 door Prados are featured there all the time.
1
Imagine if they had left the FJ Cruiser on the drawing board and sent us the 2 door Prado instead.
1
They stopped selling them 10 year sago in the USA and Canada. Even though the FJ was cheaper, nobody was buying an idiosyncratic FJ Cruiser when there was a sensible 4Runner in the same showroom.
