AMD, First of all, I am sorry to see your beloved Venza is no longer on sale.😢😢 I hoped for it but never really expected Toyota to bring the new Crown wagon to North America. 🤞🤞I was thrilled to hear it was coming. 🥳🥳 Then I was 🤬😡 when I learned Toyota Canada would not sell the cheaper, more sensible Signia XLE in our market despite the indisputable fact we are the biggest wagon FANS on the continent. I hope the Signia sells well and encourages Toyota to bring more wagons over here. After all, they build 3 versions of the Corolla wagon as well as their fantastic ProBox that could have singlehandedly saved the Scion brand. 🤩🤩

  4. Every Crown sedan comes with a spare tire . It was 'silly' of Toyota to make the spare an extra expense on the CUV/Wagon version.

  16. I hope you have many more happy years with your Venza. We Canadians liked the original Venza so much that Toyota gave us an extra model year after US sales ended in 2015. Now that a very similar model has come to market, Toyota Canada gives us fewer models to choose from than the Americans. 🤨

  21. I really like the Signia and was thrilled to see Toyota bring a new wagon to our market but Toyota is run by a man who is 5'5" tall. Since the start of the TNGA era, the rule at Toyota HQ seems to be - if it is big enough for the boss, we can put it into production. That leaves people like us with fewer and fewer choices. 🤨

Americans generally don't want wagons but Canadians like them a lot. Sadly, we Canadians get 99% of the same cars as they do in the USA so we miss out on combis .

  32. He has two full videos lauding the Venza and one showering praise upon the Signia. You will need to review all three to see which one is the best bet. In regard to the Camry, it is another fine car but like most sedans today, it has become too much of a low slung sports car. I you want a comfortable car with seats 6 inches higher than the Camry's, the Crown sedan will fit the bill. Having said all that, I would RUN to the closest Toyota dealer and get a Signia XLE ASAP.

  37. Really? Most Toyota Hybrids are tough and reliable and last hundreds of thousands of miles while delivering twice the average fuel efficiency of 'simple cars' of the same size. I liked their old cars too but we don't live in 1985 anymore.

  43. It is a relatively new model sold as a Crown in Japan and other markets. In Japan the Signia is called the Estate/ They have 4 Crown variants in Japan and so far we get two of them.

  47. Considering how much money Canadian taxpayers have 'donated' to highly profitable Toyota over the years, this matters a lot. I wish we had some Canadian auto 'journalists' or politicians holding Toyota's feet to the fire but I don't see this happening soon. It may be a mixed metaphor but I cannot imagine people riding the gravy train rocking the boat on behalf of ordinary peasants any time soon.

  55. You are right, this is the real successor to the original Venza. Toyota Hybrids are the most reliable cars they make and this 'parts bin special' is built with proven components. Get the XLE for its lower price and slightly more sensible 19" rims.

  56. I like the Signia a lot but those flaps are a curios addition to a rear seat that is missing some basic features. A luxury wagon this size should have 40/20/40 rear seats with a sliding feature which would enable far more cargo and passenger flexibility.

Canadians never lost their desire to have a wagon but due to American preferences, we lost most options. That is why we are so excited about the arrival of the Signia. We hope it will make wagons popular again and encourage more options from Toyota and other automakers.

With adequate finances and garage space, I would buy a Signia XLE in copper with the saddle tan interior as well as a 4Runner in Nautical Blue. Unlike the tailgate window in the 4Runner or 1969 Plymouth wagon, our '73 Caprice Estate has an electric rear window that rolled up.

  69. In the USA, Signia prices begin where Outback prices end. We should have the Signia XLE in Canada to give us a more affordable more option. Just like the Camry LE and so many other models, Toyota Canada is effectively price gouging by excluding lower trims from our market.

  70. Just a few years ago Toyota Canada was offering us cheaper models to cater to our thrifty Canadian tastes. The one that comes immediately to mind is the Corolla L hatch with 15" steel wheels, plastic hubcaps and urethane steering wheel. That model was built in Japan just for Canadians as the USA had the fancier SE as the base grade. Now things have flipped and we are denied access to the base models over and over. The new Camry LE is a terrific value and built in the USA but Toyota won't send them up to us. Instead we must pay extra for the SE as our base model. Wagons are far more popular in Canada yet the same company that kept the Matrix, the original Venza and the Prius V in Canada for an extra year now offers us less models of the new Crown wagon. Following the precedents of past practices, we should be offered more trims of the Signia. If Americans have XLE and Limited, we should have a Signia LE with cloth seats. Instead we are facing a unique form of price gouging.

  73. That is a very good question. There seems to be a slight mystery around the Grand Highlander's base 2.5 Hybrid powertrain. On paper the Grand Highlander shares components with the Highlander but it manages to outperforms the Highlander in acceleration tests despite being bigger and heavier.

  78. I am a very BIG fan of the Signia. The inside space would be even 'more perfect' if Toyota provided a traditional 40/20/40 rear seat which could slide and recline rather than those gimmicky flaps. A 40/20/40 seat would provide ample space for 4 passengers and allow skis, fishing rods etc. to be carried along with luggage. To compound this oversight on the new Signia, Toyota has dropped the 40/40/40 second row from the new 4Runner and failed to include it with the Land Cruiser.

  86.  @paloveczgabor1452  As I understand it, the European Touring Sports was designed to replace both the Auris and Avensis wagons so they made it more spacious than the similar Corolla Touring sold in Japan. Of course, the Japanese get the option of all wheel drive with their Hybrid wagon, hatch and sedan. Only the Hybrid sedan (in FWD or AWD) makes it to our market. For the record, I drive a car called the Pontiac Vibe which is mildly 'reworked' version of a Toyota Matrix.

  91. In the USA, dealer markups or regional distributor mandatory options on Toyotas are the big ripoff. Up here, Toyota Canada has simply eliminated base models like the Signia XLE or Camry LE so they bank the extra profit.
