Some EA filters are rated up to 25,000 miles so check the specific application for your engine. On the subject of 'bravery' let me share a few experiences. I started driving in 1980. In those days I used old fashioned oil and filters and diligently changed them every 3 months/3,000 miles. We changed spark plugs, distributor cap etc every 12,000 miles or once a year. The coolant was changed once a year and the thermostat was swapped spring and fall. Now iridium spark plugs last 10 years/120,000 miles. There are no distributor caps or rotors. Toyota coolant is good for five years/60,000 miles. Our cars run fine with all season thermostats that stay in place for a decade or more. We accept and trust all these advancements so why would I not trust the most advanced oil on the market to do what it says it does? BTW I have also saved plenty of money and time by eliminating extra oil changes. The big problem with oil across the US and Canada is that regulations are too slack. This allows many inferior oils to be labeled and sold as 'synthetic'. Amsoil Signature Series is a true, polymer based synthetic not a fancy mineral oil like many others. This inconsistency in labeling causes a hell of a lot of confusion about how long oil can last. We also have the makers of inferior synthetic oil encouraging confusion for their own benefit. Two good introductions to oil standards are the Oil Championship videos done by Project Farm and the videos done by the Banks Power channel at Amsoil HQ. BTW I also use Amsoil for my manual transmission. It stays in for 5 years and comes out the same golden color it went in.

  9.  @GrinDiesel1969  Please allow me one more quick story. After 20 years of those 3 month oil changes, I decided to experiment with Synthetic oil in my old Dodge with a Slant 6 engine. It was unbelievable how much more quiet and smooth it ran as the engine started after my first synthetic oil change. For several years I used common, off the shelf synthetics and continued with several oil changes per year. Finally I heard about PAO or Polymer based true synthetic oil and its incredible abilities. By that time I was driving an old Mercury Tracer which was really a Mazda 323 in disguise. It had a 1.6 engine with 85 hp and 4 on the floor transmission. I finally built up the courage to pay full retail price for 4 quarts of Amsoil. Though I had already been running the Tracer with synthetic, the change to Amsoil literally felt like my car had a new engine under the hood. To be clear, there was no tune up involved just a simple oil change. The engine was so much quieter and acceleration was unrecognizable as the engine could simply rev more easily with the better lubricant. It was astonishing and exactly the effect I had read about. It took a while to adjust to the fact the oil would last so much longer but over time it became clear the oil could handle it. One last point about extended oil change intervals, even the best engines burn a tiny amount of oil. When you change the oil frequently you never notice the tiny loss of an ounce or two on the dipstick so you start believing your car burns absolutely none. When extending the interval from 3 to 6 months to once a year, there will eventually be a small but noticeable drop in oil level. I top up about a half quart per year. That has been the same for the 12 years I have done the once a year oil changes. If I change back tomorrow to a 3 - 6 month interval, I can go back to 'believing' my car burns NO oil because the oil will always be on or very near the Full mark.😁
