AMD, The strangest thing Toyota has done in recent years is make car interiors smaller with the coming of Toyota New Global Architecture. Does Toyota really believe Americans and Canadians are generally as short (and thin 🤣😂) as people around the world or did they make a HUGE mistake with a shortsighted, one-size-fits-all, 'global' approach? 🤔🤨 Their chief rival Honda understands that we tend to be Big-Boned and designs cars to suit our Plus-Sized, Corn-Fed requirements. Hopefully someday Toyota will understand because today's Corolla hatch will almost fit inside the fabulous Matrix from ten years ago.:face-blue-wide-eyes:

Bring back the Matrix!!!!!!! I have been living the Matrix-in-disguise Pontiac Vibe dream for over 19 years. Because of that fold flat seat I recently carried two 8 foot extension ladders, two six foot step ladders and two 6 foot occupants with ease. Due to an annual visit to Krown Rustproofing here in Ontario, my Vibe is as solid as the day it left the factory. I admire the RAV4 Hybrid and it would be top of my list if I was shopping today but I cannot understand why so many useful features have disappeared over the years. Beyond the ones you mentioned, how handy would a sliding second row with 40/20/40 seating be in your RAV4 today if those assets had been carried forward from Generation 3?

The Yaris hatch and Yaris Cross would be excellent additions to our fleet. It goes without saying that the GR Yaris would be most welcome.

We wish we could have the Corolla Touring Sports under any name.

They made the huge mistake of trying to turn the Avalon into a somewhat low slung sport sedan. The formerly comfortable seating position was lowered, the generous headroom was eliminated and the cushy ride was not helped by oversized rims. In other words, the 'grandpa' Avalon sold well and sporty one's sales fell through the floor. The new Crown sedan has raised seating and a smooth ride but the dubious styling and awful rear headroom limit its appeal.

@TripleBerg There is still a lot to admire in a last generation Avalon Hybrid and the mpg is amazing but I prefer the totally uncool, very comfortable and super spacious Avalons that came before it. As a matter of principle, I will never accept the whole couple-sedan concept inflicted upon the world by the original Mercedes CLS. By definition, a sedan ought to offer as much headroom to rear seat occupants as those in the front. No wonder sedan sales are tanking when automakers have destroyed their inherent boxy practicality. 🤨 In regard to the Venza, I still have not 'got over' the discontinuation of the original, Camry-wagon Venza. They were so popular here in Canada that they gave us a 2016 after US sales ended with the 2015 model year. Up here the Venza sold in equal or greater numbers than the Highlander. My only quibble is the oversized rims though most Canadians switch to saner 17" rims for their snow tires. The new Venza should have done better but its launch time could not have been worse as supplies were constricted from the start.

@TripleBerg We are going to have to agree to disagree on the Signia. We still love wagons in Canada and I am thrilled to see a new option from Toyota. Despite the success of the original Venza wagon in our market, Toyota Canada has weirdly decided to offer us fewer variants of the Signia. We will only get the more expensive Limited though the XLE would have been more inline with our thrifty Canadian tastes. Had we been offered both models, I am confident the Signia would have been 5 times as popular on our side of the border. Now we may never know........

Agreed!

@aaronbryan5095 In Japan and Europe Toyota also sells a Corolla wagon for practical people so they can get away with an undersized hatch.

Hopefully the new Crown Signia will meet your needs.

@Doc1855 Its pricing begins where the Outback pricing ends.

Please add the Corolla wagon to your list of demands for the Canadian market. 😁

@bradkerr2798 The Japanese market Corolla wagon has AWD but I believe it is based on the 1.8 powertrain.

Agreed!!

Like most companies, Toyota would rather sell you a CUV for $3,000 or 4,000 more instead of an affordable wagon like the Matrix. 🤨

The Matrix and its Pontiac Vibe twin were sold in North America. The factory that build the Vibe sent a few cars to Japan with the name Toyota Voltz. Many of us would enthusiastically welcome the Corolla Touring Sports.
1
That is an excellent example of rebranding the right way. I have owned a Pontiac Vibe made by Toyota for 19 years.

We had a 2014 Matrix and 2016 Venza in Canada because both were much more popular in our market.

@alialhomoud7799 Exactly.

The Yaris is one of their best selling cars in Europe.

Yes, 2013 was the last year for Matrix sales in the USA and the numbers were so low they counted them with Corolla. Here in Canada we had a 2014 Matrix. While I accept Toyota's choice not to design a new Matrix for the Canadian market, they have no excuse to deny us access to the Corolla wagons they sell in Japan and Europe. There are numerous examples where companies brought a model to Canada (to cater to our distinct tastes) while never bringing the car to the USA. Toyota should do the same with the Corolla wagon.

Wrong

@TheShakir98 I live in Ontario . It has been several years since the Yaris was sold in Canada.

There are numerous videos in the channel listings that will answer your questions.

@RileyMonthule A scan through the listings will be very helpful in separating the better choices from the poorer choices.

The new Crown Signia is closer to the original Venza.

In an earlier video AMD explained the problems he had while servicing a Vibe. Although Toyota parts work, Toyota will not warranty parts going into a non-Toyota vehicle. He also stated that GM is no longer selling parts for the Pontiac Vibe. I own a 2005 Vibe and get my independent mechanic to use Toyota parts when service is required. Just a month ago I had new Toyota brake rotors and pads installed and I don't expect any problems.

Please let me clear up a potential misunderstanding. With very few exceptions, GM vehicles were garbage in the 1990s just as they had been in the 80s and much of the 1970s. If GM had been building competitive cars they would not have gone bankrupt in 2009.

Agreed!!!
