AMD, It is so reassuring to see you put rust on the top of the list. A rusty car is a neglected car. With the numerous and highly effective rustproofing options on the market today, nobody in the Salt Belt has an excuse to sit by and watch their car rust to pieces. I also believe in making a clear distinction between old fashioned undercoating and modern rustproofing. The product applied to my car on an annual basis is a light, oily water repellent not a gooey tar. 🤩

No, it is more important to rustproof it before it gets dirty.

@VroodenTheGreat It case you were not aware, only body on frame trucks and SUVs have a full frame. Cars, minivans and CUVs have a unibody construction. Every metal surface exposed to road salt needs to be protected. Floors, fenders, doors etc need to be rustproofed. Even a steel oil pan can rust from the outside in. 😁

@theresedillon6717 My 2005 car had Krown applied for the 20th time in preparation for its 20th salty Ontario winter. Yesterday I hand washed it and applied paste wax as I do at this time every year. I will not wash it again until spring and I fully expect it to be as solid and rust free then as it is now. 😁

Well said! My 2005 car had its 20th Krown application this summer. It is as solid as the day it left the factory.

I drive a rust free 2005 car thanks to an annual application of Krown rustproofing. According to the Krown web site, La Crosse, Wisconsin is the closest location to you and it would be well worth the drive once a year. The Car Care Nut is 420 miles away in Homer Glen, Illinois. Good luck with your new Lexus.

We have harsh winters and throw lots of salt on the roads in Canada. Our cars don't rust if we get them rustproofed but sad to say, most people don't bother.
