Hello from Severe Service Canada. To fully absorb your opinions, I stayed to the very end and I am going to #RESPECTFULLY but vehemently disagree with your final statement about avoiding high quality engine oil. I have a 2005 with the basic Corolla 126 hp 1ZZ-FE engine. Since the first oil change interval was reached, it has run exclusively on Amsoil's top spec PAO synthetic oil. During the 5 year warranty period I had it changed on the schedule mandated by the warranty. When the warranty expired, I started using the Amsoil long life filter and changed it according to Amsoil's rating of 1 year/ 25,000 mile or 1 year/ 15,000 mile for 'severe service'. I am now in my eleventh year of once-a-year, severe service oil change intervals. The engine is perfect. Of course, I have SAVED a fortune in oil change expenses and generated a fraction of the waste oil in the process. I have saved a fortune in repairs by investing in a car built by Toyota instead of a demonstrably inferior brand. Up front, we pay a premium for Toyota's best in class engineering, assembly and QDR. Why in the name of all that is LOGICAL would be use any inferior oil to protect the best engines in the world??? If you don't feel like doing dry, scholarly research on engine lubricants then have some fun and watch Project Farm's oil testing. Guess which brand of oil won. :-)
