Everytime a second hand gun goes on sale, the government could just buy it. An agency that buys second hand guns at an inflated rate would be a start. That would be totally voluntary.

@basedtruthpiller7140 Of course a percentage will just go back out - different areas with different percentages. There will still be many destroyed.

@brentwalker8596 I am sure there are many people with guns that they no longer want but don't want put in circulation. How do they get rid of them currently? If you offer a financial incentive, then it would be massively successful.

@firefly9838 It appears that you are assuming the aim of this suggestion is to remove all guns. It isn't. It is a step that could do some good. Just because a proposal isn't a "magic silver bullet" (pun intended) solution to everything, it doesn't mean you just throw the idea away.

@firefly9838 I'm sorry to disappoint you. It wasn't what was discussed in this video either.. That seems to be the false narrative that has been believed by so many. "They're coming for our guns!" No, people are just asking that you don't make guns your entire personality, and let's make some sensible rules that society can literally live by.

@firefly9838 Let me ask this. How many people do you think there are that have an old rifle or gun in their back shed - possibly grandpa's old thing? How many do you know? Would they take the time to dig it out and sell it to the government if they were silly enough to offer an overinflated price for that old junk? At least no one will break in the shed and steal it. Sell 3 or 4 old bits of junk and get enough to buy an upgrade or a big screen TV. Is that really so bad?
