  1. ​ @audenharper3014  The beef is a quarantine issue. Australia doesn't import any animals or animal products from nations that have experienced specific diseases ( mad cow for example ) within a specified time period. The US farmers source cattle from South America leading to untraceable supply chains, making them unsuitable for Australia. Australia only imports Kobe Beef that has well defined supply chains and history of breeding. It is a quarantine issue.

  2. @audenharper3014  Australia allows farmers to use some of the same drugs - antibiotics and steroids - which means we can't export to the EU. However, they are used as a medicinal product only as opposed to an aid to promote growth. Australian beef isn't pumped full of chemicals, but some chemicals prohibited in some places are used here. The cattle industry in Australia operates very differently to most places in the world. The cattle just walk "free range" eating grasses and salt bush.
