  3. In Australia, cancer treatment is part of the health care system. Everyone gets screened regularly or for certain things at certain age groups to ensure early detection and treatment. For example, everyone over 50 gets sent a test kit for bowel cancer every 2 years... like a bizarre birthday present every second year.

Of course, there are private health organisations and doctors who work for money... and insurance companies feeding in the private market. The public system guarantees a minimum standard for ALL. It isn't one or the other.

  9. ​ @TaniaShipman I get sent a bowel cancer screening test every 2 years in the mail - as does everyone over a certain age. Free, of course. Early detection is a cheaper alternative. It is in the government interest to find anything quickly. All cancer treatments are covered by the system for everyone.
