  1. The SAS wear a green ( wrong colour apparently... I stand corrected ) beret. This was the uniform of the 47th. Others wore different beret. The 47th were specialists trained... the precursor. The SAS adopted the beret out of respect. RIP Leo Kelly. He wore his green beret at every ANZAC day parade.

  2.  @davidoftheforest  You just described the 3 different colours them men in his group wore during their march - and a blue. They would have banter about their beret colours after the march, in the bar - it clearly was a point of pride for them.
