If you had got the diagnosis, are there things in your life you would not have done if you had the diagnosis? The first thought is of all the things that would have been helped by knowing. However, give thought to the things you may have missed, if you had a diagnosis earlier. I imagine you have great memories, of times that you may have avoided if you had the diagnosis. It goes both ways. ...it just takes longer to recognise the positives.

@PADARM Perhaps my difference comes from not being diagnosed until my early 40s. My initial reaction was disappointment and some anger. The process you describe - that many things could have made more sense. I would have understood myself better, and not had to wait until my age to finally understand techniques, and most importantly when to apply them. As time has gone on, and I assess again with less frustration taking over my thoughts - I have recognised there are experiences ( both good and bad ) that have made me who I am today. These experiences I may have avoided with an earlier diagnosis. Maybe my experience comes from a much later diagnosis in life, having more experiences to draw on. If this is different for you then that is totally understandable. Instead, the positive from my story that you can take, is that you didn't have to wait until mid 40's to gain a better understanding of yourself. Imagine how many more of those regrets you have avoided, that I have lived through. ...maybe this is just my way to alleviate the frustration of not knowing earlier. Peace! Edit. Spelling
