We all need more nuclear waste in our life. I used to think differently, but now I have learned it's harmless and storage is not an issue.

@Hattie Lankford I was being sarcastic. I sure a heck din't want it stored in my neighbourhood, and I bet neither do you...because you know how dangerous and long lasting it is. We don't clean up the waste the we CAN deal with...why would it be a good idea to create worse waste that we don't even know how to store effectively? It's ludicrous. Then we have fools claiming it will be ok, all the while trying to show how smart they are - while advertising their foolishness. We know what type 1, type 2 etc civilisations will do...and we do something else. Once a civilisation reaches a point where they recognise the possibility of the existence of a "Great Filter" but don't consider it for everything they do, then they don't have much chance. They said 3 Mile Island was safe. They said Chernobyl was safe. They said the newer facilities in Japan were safe. ...and now they want us to believe the next generation will be safe. The arrogance and hubris is astounding.

@Hattie Lankford Yes...I have dealt with many schilling on this topic. They are easy to spot. The arrogance and weak attempts at condescension are always on display. Are you not aware of alternatives? I see the trick and that is why I already addressed the clean up of the messes we make, that we CAN do something about. It is the usual response. The old "well things we use now create waste"...as if not cleaning up our current mess is justification to make a worse one. Tell me, where do you think is a good place to store the waste. If you can answer that then you are the first on the planet to do so. I'll wait...

@Hattie Lankford Who pays for the nuclear waste storage? It sure isn't factored in when claiming how cost effective the energy is. Profits for some now, while future generations pay the costs.
1
@Hattie Lankford There is that arrogance and condescension that I was talking about? Do you know there are countries that export renewable energy because they over produce. You act as if it isn't possible, all while thinking you are intelligent Answer my question. Are you completely unaware of how it is possible...and why would you admit that?
1
@Hattie Lankford Ah,resorting to insults instead of simply stating how to deal with the waste. Why resort to childish weak insults? ...because you can't name a single place.

@Hattie Lankford Still waiting for you to address the funding for storage, and the costs associated that are not factored in to the claim that nuclear energy is cheaper. Who pays that? Edit.. Who pays? We the people...pay. The creators of the waste pay a nominal amount to some other company willing to take the money to handle the waste - or a subsidiary, so they recoup the money. When that waste storage company goes broke, and the money is all gone, the waste still needs to be dealt with. Luckily, the energy companies have absolved themselves of responsibility by paying a nominal amount to make it anyone else's responsibility but theirs. Nuclear waste...your grandchildrens inheritance.

@Hattie Lankford Educate me on what to look at by way of safe storage of waste. Tom Scott has a video. I will read myself. Just point me there. Anything...can you give anything at all to follow up with, other than empty condescension?
1
@Hattie Lankford So you can't even point me to something to investigate myself, to better educate myself on the topic of storage of toxic waste. ...an independent scientific paper perhaps. Anything...?
1
@Hattie Lankford I will start with the biggest energy source...remaining life cycle of an estimated 4.5 billion years.

@joshnabours9102 Yes. Sounds like the speil we had about every previous reactor. Still nothing about dealing with waste. ALWAYS conveniently left out.

@joshnabours9102 Thankyou for the pointing me in a direction to find more information. It's the best answer I have got from many efforts. I deleted my replies because I was expecting more hollow abuse for what I consider legitimate concerns, rather than genuine helpful directions to further information. Thank you.
