  1.  @wirrwarr8834     It should also be considered that the US makes variants of the Abrams that require different maintenance programs. For example, Australia has diesel versions with longer ranges that suit Australia better. The "maintenance" issue has multiple solutions.

  3.  @awf6554    Yes, the Abrams, as the US run them, can use almost anything ( exaggeration for effect ) to fuel the turbine version. However, the version delivered to Australia is a variant and not the same configuration the US uses.

  4.  @awf6554  Yes, they could do, but the variant is changed for maintenance reasons, not fuel use reasons. That was the point I was making from the start.

  5.  @awf6554  I don't, no. I just remember the uproar at the time the order was placed, and the justifications used by the government at the time. It was part of a huge order that the tanks were only a part of.
