  11. My dad did 25 years volunteering for the CFS ( Country Fire Service ). Finished as Captain and running the station. He saw both "Ash Wednesday" fires in South Australia. We lost contact with him for 3 days while he fought fires, until we saw him live on the news pulling into a rest area for the emergency crews. Then we knew he was alive. He is on the Australian Honour Role for his service, and got a medal from the Queen's honour list ( he was born in England ) for services to the Commonwealth. Fully volunteer national CFS Much respect to them all.

  14.  @Streetw1s3r  There were many years of it. I had an apartment about 200 meters from the end of the straight. If I wasn't in the crowd, I would watch without sound, so I could hear the real thing, going down through the gears at the end of the straight. Good times. I still prefer the old V10s personally.
