  25.  @choysum  The clubs have to wear the expense when a player flops, so they need a return on investment when their allocation of resources works out to be mutually beneficial for both club and player. Contracts protect both parties.

  26. It creates an auction. It can lead to disappointment. It creates an uncontrollable discussion around the transfer. In a large open market, you don't negotiate in public. There are too many examples where a leak has been catastrophic, one way or the other - either through publicity, or other effects on negotiations. America has closed leagues with very limited options when moving. It's a different landscape.

As you so eloquently pointed out it was made very clear at the time people questioned his ownership, and his suitability beyond the money. Therefore everyone that has made money for and from Chelsea since that point has been knowingly complicit in sports washing. If you are OK with that or not, it doesn't stop it being fact.
