Australia gets remembered occasionally...for the right reasons. Nice to know. 🇦🇺

All it takes for evil to succeed is for good people to do nothing.

The differences between those times and now are consistent the world over. Greater wealth gap. Education costs increase Medical costs increase Living standards drop Processed food vs natural People looking out for themselves and not others ( divided and conquered the population ) ...these things are valid for MANY MANY nations around the world.

@kefnl Vote? Good one. Putin poisons his opposition

@alexsilent5603 The damage Russia has done to Ukraine will last decades. The shame for Russia will last centuries
19
@elijaholdgameskingdom6794 Calm down. No one is claiming to be a hero. Doing something, anything is better than nothing. No one said it needed a hero component. For each person it is finding what they can, and are willing to do Secondly, don't make assumptions on how easy or hard someone else's life is. No one here was doing any such thing.
17
@briant5685 It is a regular part of Russian history, that the people eventually rise up.
15
Is there a difference between having a Tsar, and having a ruler for life? ...other than the title?
10
I have noticed that some people use USSR and Russia interchangeably. As if anything that was USSR was and still is Russian. Many others appear to speak of them as separate things, as if not all in the USSR considered themselves Russian. I find this difference intriguing.

I once made a mistake, and parted with a car I like. I can't just say that I made a mistake and just take it back. Apparently, that would make me a criminal.
6
I have more in common with the people on the street of most countries than I do with my own, or anyone else's politicians.

@zarovv5589 You can find nearly every climactic region in Australia. In the north you are in the tropics, and from Tasmania you can see the Aurora Australis.
5
It's no different to those American who are blindly convinced they live in the greatest country in the world, in all metrics. 2 sides of the same coin.
5
@dansmith1661 Where does it say I support anything? You just want to spread hate.

I would guess the Olympics in Sydney has something to do with it.
3
Paranoia seems to be a national pass time
3
@Silver_Prussian You mad brah?
3
@kefnl The power of the people is stronger than you believe. Don't let them tell you that together the people are useless.
3
If people hate Russia because of the natural resources, then why don't people hate Australia?
2
The world therefore belongs to Africa.
2
@AntonioRivera28 My point is people rise up. You are trying to argue about how many do it...all that does is show that you know that it happened. I get it, you need to be right about some minor details. That's fine, but let's not pretend I gave a quantity when I spoke of the past.

@jdrancho1864 Try Breaker Morrant...start from the beginning

@aussiebel Adults

Freedom and morality are mutually exclusive concepts
2
@elijaholdgameskingdom6794 Peace.

Needs more sarcasm
2
@kefnl At the moment Russia is getting the attention because Russia invaded a nation to start a war. Really? You don't understand why Russia is getting the attention at the moment. Really?
2
Fun fact - We have WiFi thanks to Australians. That is something we all use regularly.
2
If Russia was to annex Ukraine, then NATO would then be at Russian borders, because of Putin's actions ironically Think about it.
1
@oo--7714 Badly? That is a matter of perspective. Short term pain for long term gain.
1
@oo--7714 They don't follow it up, is the problem, and just let it slide back to authoritarianism.
1
@hannahdyson7129 That's not what BoneyM says. Try another...who is the current Tzar?
1
@AntonioRivera28 So when you say history doesn't show people rising up...but does show people rising up, what made you think I said the entire population rises up? You just tried to argue with me, before agreeing that people rising up is indeed part of Russian history. It's the most argumentative way that anyone has ever agreed with me.
1
@AntonioRivera28 I don't need to "imagine"...I studied it. Stop telling me that you hope I don't know what I am talking about.
1
@AntonioRivera28 It was when one of the pillars of Russian society rose up. Accept that I never claimed it to be any specific quantity, and that you fd'd up. While you are at it. Look up Dunning-Kruger.
1
If you think China's interests are purely financial, then you are missing key indicators. Xi believes Vladivostok belongs to China. He didn't like the recent celebrations.
1
@Mark-Haddow Australia isn't in the Atlantic, so doesn't qualify for NATO. There is the long standing ANZUS Treaty though, outside of the links to the Commonwealth
1
@Алексей-ы3х6ъ No...Australia does not export oil and gas to the world's oil producing nations. Labor ( nor Labour ) and Liberal are both to the left of both US political parties. ...and Australia is still part of the British Empire. You said a lot of things but the majority was severely flawed.
1
@AUmarcus Sure, we are all pals when they need a port on the other side of the world, or training in specific conditions. After peace in Europe after WW2, not many European nations helped Australia against the Japanese though...even after the sacrifices of Aussie and NZ soldiers. ANZUS, gives the partnership with the US then they are in NATO, so they can Article 5 if necessary.
1
@AUmarcus May in Europe...September with Japan. You could use Google to avoid that basic error. Yes, NATO was formed AFTER ww2, as a result of it - my point is Australians had helped all through WW1 and WW2, but got no help from Europe after Australia itself was bombed.
1
@johncarlaw8633 And yet, Australia managed to move plenty of troops to all parts of the globe, so that excuse doesn't fly (Pun intended) And yes, the British moved loads of troops - to Singapore - another strategic genius left in charge there.
1
@johncarlaw8633 After WW1? What are you talking about?
1
@johncarlaw8633 Including in the list of times Australia GAVE help. Did I type slow enough for you to keep up?
1
Even Putin isn't that stupid.
1
Trump's first impeachment was because he tried to corrupt Zelensky but failed to corrupt him. Important fact.
1
@bIbIXHYTbIU When you believe a car is alive, they can make you believe anything.
1
@bIbIXHYTbIU No car wants to be bombed
1
@bIbIXHYTbIU And Pootang thought he could do the same to Kyiv. Whoops...BIG mistake
