@leebrown6153 Not sure if you realise this, but no one alive today actually did that. Should you pay for the crimes of someone else's grandfather who has the same skin colour as you? Yes. .THEY did horrible shit, but I didn't. Stop using someone's crimes to punish people. ...you just sounds racist.

Not being wholly reliant on the US helped us avoid the GFC...you know where American banks just ripped off as many people as possible...and just got away with it, with their bonuses in tact. Yeah...so sorry we missed out there.

Free settlers Then gold rush Then promise of something better World War refugees Then 5 pound POMs ...the list goes on There are many spikes in Australia's population by immigration for all sorts of reasons...not just the time you have made a badly worded reference to. However you say it....it is not accurate to say 'Australians were all convicts' ...and you are right, Australia proudly has a rich history of providing a home to people who need a better place for them and their family. There have been far more people arrive based on humanitarian reason, than convicts.
