If nothing is going on, then China gets to laugh at the world, gets proved right and other nations waste loads of money. Why wouldn't China want a win on the global stage, and to prove the rest wrong? Can you think of a valid reason not to have such a win?

If there was nothing to see, we wouldn't see the fear and insecurities on display. Why are the CCP scared?
