Nobody cares about you haters anyway. Standing up for your "history'' now that is interesting. A history of racial oppression, slavery and exploitation of those in chains. And, you have the nerve to talk about the land of the free. You are a hypocrite and a pathetic excuse for a human.

Grokford It is true that the majority of people who love the Confederate flag do not consider themselves racists; however, they neither condemn nor denounce those racist including Nazis who use the Confederate flag as their symbol of racism and white supremacy. Therefore, the majority are complicit in racism and white supremacy. This is no different than the Nazi flag being a flag of German national identity or German pride. It is not. The root of this prejudice, and I think that you are right, is the core disdain of this racism which is anti human in essence. As Mark Twain had said, 'it is easier to deceive someone, than to convince him that he was deceived.'  In the South, among many people of all races, there exists an element of anti enlightenment and even an anti intellectual culture.  That is my observation. The land of saints and sinners.

  5. What hold the South back is its history of slavery. We see the injustice to its black citizens in every aspect of their lives. Racism oozes out of the cultural pores of the South. Go to Cuba and see race relations and compare it to the South. No Klan in Brazil or Cuba or the Dominican Republic? No Klan in Puerto Rico. But plenty of Klan in the US South. Why is that. No one is using the N-word which is in the tip of the tongue of every Southern white cop.

  6. Grokford Does Texas, Mississippi and Alabama count as the South? Does using the N word as a badge of honor mean anything?  You are correct in your assertions about racism in the rest of the country. But the legacy about Jim Crow continues. You will need a reconciliation committee as existed in South Africa after the end of Apartheid as a starting point for the healing to begin. You will need to have many many more police  who are Afro descendent. You must change the racist political climate of the South.
