  137. πŸ‘πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ Very well done again and as always (video and work). I'm happy to see that the old reliable girl got some well deserved TLC and maintenance. I like this big vehicle. Not only because it was the cause of one of your epic trips that I love so much. Jen felt so comfortable in it, especially while being on the back seats. 2) Yes, that's definitely a good idea. I already wondered why you buy so many new tools respectively a lot of equipment on every road trip adventure. You already own enough and good quality tools, so why not use them? If shipping this car to Vegas is really only 300 bucks, it should be less expensive than paying for a rental car and new tools. Additionally you can even sleep in this big vehicle. I definitely know that you can't keep them all but this one could be a really helpful addition. Of course you could also ship the Tundra. But are you 3 able to sleep in it with all the tools etc.? I would roll light grey bed liner paint onto the roof of EMA and give the complete undercarriage a mix made out of sticky chainsaw oil and kerosene. Just like Mustie1 in New Hampshire does with all his vehicles (with very good results over all these years). The exterior, well, I would also roll on some paint (at least it's only a kind of work truck respectively utility vehicle). Or at least use melted toilet ring wax (like Mustie1 also does) as a conservation layer. Or maybe some patina fluid would work for you. Of course I'm eagerly looking forward to watch the next video. As always: Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards, luck and especially health to Jen, you, cute little Gus πŸ’š, Turbo and the chickens (= the producers of the "dog licking stuff"!). πŸ˜€ ;-)

  217. Dear Mr. Wes. πŸ‘πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ 700 bucks for a totally rust free 2012 Captiva with good interior? That was a fantastic deal for sure! Congrats! Very well done! 2) I would bet that if the engine is maintained correctly, the typical oil consumption will be no problem. VW once had 1.4 l engines in a lot of different cars that was known for using a bit more oil. No other issues indeed. 3) I would keep the old cylinder head or at least sell it. 4) Why in the world would anybody want to pull an engine out downwards??? Sometimes it's possible to pull an engine out and in upwards even with the gearbox still attached! And if you own a Mercedes not even the hood has to be removed because it can be adjusted vertically! This feature is with this brand at least since 1968 as far as I know (type W114/115 also called /8). Originally designed for better maintenance accessibility of course. 4a) The only cars I know to pull out an engine downwards are ones with rear engines and rear wheel drive. For instance oldtimer like VW bug or bus, Fiat 500, some NSU and the role model for the NSU TT = the Corvair. 5) Looking into that oil pan and that shattered crank case I guess a typical Andrew Camarata saying would have been: Phew, those bad made thin metal engines nowadays. They simply cannot withstand the slightest knocking from a broken piston rod. And look at the interior of that car. Can't even be repaired/fixed with an angle grinder! ;-) :-) Thanks a lot for making teaching recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards, luck and health to you, your families, relatives and friends.

  244. Dear Mr. Waldo. πŸ‘πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ It's definitely a good thing to have your own tire machines. Congratulations πŸŽ‰ for purchasing them. 😱 But what is going on here? Did something happen to you? I'm only asking because I've seen you doing extraordinary good work often times. But this time it looks as if you didn't even bother to look up (online or in manuals) how tires are mounted/demounted properly. 😱 At 3.30 min you clearly damaged the aluminium rim because you put the metal device on the rim and not on the rubber tire right beside the rim! You did that even twice to this rim. πŸ™ˆ 2) Didn't you put new valve stems in/on the first set of wheels? 3) For demounting/mounting tires onto aluminium rims, you should have/use a plastik/nylon foot. Anything else will damage the rim but at least the coating. 4) Usually a special kind of pribar is used (for not damaging the rims/coating). It's much beefier and wider than the undersized tools you are using. Some types even have a second foot (made out of nylon/plastic) to put on respectively against the aluminium rims. 5) Both tire machines are sitting on unstable pallets (instead of on at least some sturdy timber/beams). This fact will at least influence the functioning of the balancing machine. It's also very obvious that the pallets respectively the ground isn't level. Because of all that, I simply have to ask again: Is everything okay with you? Are you maybe suffering from an illness or something else. I wonder what is distracting you. You seem to somehow have lost your sense how things are done right. But you nevertheless put out a video. Best regards, luck, health and wisdom.

  261. Dear WWW. πŸ‘πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ Very well done again, Sir! Actually how long sat that Clark in the field? 😁 Anyway: As you know any vehicle that sits on the ground for such a long time as your forklift will have issues with all its rubber and plastic parts (deteriorating because of UV light and summer/winter temperature difference and wetness of course). Also a lot of parts will have rust issues. Not to forget that nearly everything that gets older will be weaker. So you will have to deal with a rolling restoration for a (un)certain amount of time if you like it or not. Nevertheless it's a good machine and you have been able to sell the other one after all. By the way: When will we see more of those family field projects at last? 2) LOL! That sounds better because it doesn't sound! 😁 3) A 4-wheeler bike with a small engine, lots and lots of mouse/rodent crap, the starting fluid in a plastic squeezing bottle is mixed gasoline, the typical laugh as it ran for the first time and a dirty carburator. Additionally it had the typical and preferred Mustie1 price tag on it = for free! So: Hooray, it's Westie1 time again! 😁 It's a great looking machine with not much hours on it. Congrats! Thanks a lot for making teaching recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health to all of you. Postscriptum: I would bet that the engine smokes because it gets too much respectively a double portion oil (from the premixed gasoline and the inbuilt oiler). It is also possible that there is some critters crap in the exhaust. Additionally 2- stroke engines usually don't run right without a complete air filter. P.P.S. Thank you for that suggestion. I will definitely try out this channel.

  385. πŸ‘πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ Great video, congrats! Personally I like it much, much more watching you working on old(er) stuff. This Rabbit might be so lame that you can't use a stop watch but need a calendar to measure the acceleration from 0 - 60 mph! 😁 ;-) You will nevertheless definitely be impressed by the ridiculous low fuel consumption (you can also use vegetable oil as fuel, no conversion needed). By the way: North America has speed limits that can be reached with this little 54 hp Diesel engine anyway. 2) I'm always very much astounded, how different an American style VW Golf MK1 looks like in comparison to an original German version. Way bigger rear lights (a bit looking like ones from the first Scirocco model) and no round head lights. Kind of weird looking for European eyes. While watching 5150mxVW buying his bucket list Rabbit GTI a viewer and I joked around calling this design looking like a "big Yugo". 😁 ;-) 3) I don't know really why but I sure hoped, that you would haul home the complete stash of Rabbit parts and even the car. I don't know why you are putting this VW together. But I'm pretty sure that you can assemble, puzzle and weld together a pretty reliable little car out of all the parts. Maintenance parts are dirt cheap, so are tires. Of course I'm eagerly looking forward to watch the next part(s). As always: Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards, luck and especially health to all of you (including the great, 4 legged rodent and rabbit hunter of course).

  413. Dear Mr. Wes. πŸ‘πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ Very well done again. 2) Your videos including the talking (= fortunately you are teaching/explaining us viewers a lot) are fantastic just like they are. In my opinion a perfect mixture between working and explaining (like Mustie1, Johnathan W., Marty T., Bus Grease Monkey, Indiana Diesel and, last but not least, Coldwarmotors etc.p.p.). On mostly technology based channels one does simply not work without the other. Channels like for instance great Mr. Chickadee, My Self Reliance (Shawn James), XiaoXi's and unbeliiievably fantastic LiZiQi are mostly self explanatory and need no respectively nearly no talking. Those vids are kind of meditational/meditative because only with working and nature sounds/noises. 3) What to do with the red pickup truck? That's a hard decision for sure. You have a kind of reliable, old work horse with nearly no extra features (so not much can break down). Older is often better but definitely more stabil than new. On the other hand there is the old enemy = rust (and a lot of it). Also your pickup truck is kind of worn out a bit... let's call it "shabby chic"! ;-) :-) With your possibilities and great skills I would do a rolling restoration (only fixing what is necessary and rusted through things like cabin floor and rear fenders). Of course I would buy a new windshield and definitely a used driver seat or repair this one (and strengthen it on the side you always slide over and in the car). I would also simply try to polish the left front light lense. Then I would treat the complete undercarriage/underbody with the Mustie1 solution: A sticky mixture made out of sticky chainsaw oil and diesel (if I remember correctly). This hinders rust to evolve farther very reliable and for years (see Crusty, his famous patina split window single cab). To prevent the upper body he uses hot/warm = liquid toilet ring wax with great succes. If you do so you would become Westie1 even more! LOL ;-) :-) As always: Thanks a lot for making teaching recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health to all of you. Postscriptum: πŸ’š Nice that you protect the Robin mama and her nest. Hope we will see more of it.

  858. Dear NNKH family plus Gus. πŸ‘πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ Another epic and simply fantastic trip. Very well done again and as always (video, work and singing of course)! Congrats! You are a very talented man in a lot of ways. By the way: That awesome singing of Ave Maria instantly brought tears to my eyes. But maybe somebody was just peeling onions behind me!? Anyway: You, Sir, are definitely a lucky guy and fortunately you know it. You're married to an incredibly sweet/cute girl/woman with an angelic voice and a lot of other skills. She nevertheless is very unpretentious and uncomplicated. And that is definitely a really rare combination. Additionally you two own one of the cutest dogs ever. I absolutely love the real star of this show πŸ’š! 😁 ;-) 2) πŸ‘πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ I hoped that you will keep the El Camino and give him some TLC and put some spare and/or used parts on it. Door panels and hub caps for instance. In my opinion you should definitely keep the relatively rare top. It might come in handy some day. Anyway: I'm eagerly looking forward to watch the next video about the El Camino. 3) Vinyl roof substitute: Unfortunately I can't remember the channel name but I once saw somebody put a kind of knobbly pickup truck bed liner on top of his car roof (after he had removed all the vinyl, glue and rust). He then put a rust converter on and repaired the little holes with fibre strengthened bondo (maybe even primed the roof afterwards?). Then he put on this special product (usually for truck beds as already mentioned) with a paint roller and a lot of care. For a fraction of the price for a new vinyl roof top, the result looked really, really good. And it was relatively easy to do too. 4) Congrats for hitting 300.000 subscribers. Well deserved of course. By the way: Congrats also for being very picky about any sponsoring! That's definitely the right way to do it. πŸ‘πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health to all of you.

1371. Dear NNKH Chris B. πŸ‘πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ 2) 😱 I simply can't believe that the U-Haul box truck was given away for ridiculous 400 USD. Even the scrap value is at least 3 times that. Additionally the box (plus an axle and most of the frame) can be used to make a great trailer. Or at the very least a really great storage box. I watch Adventures made from Scratch (scrapyard owner) buying scrap trucks all the time for way more money than this one cost. 3) Please never ever cut open a pillow filled with feathers or even a feather bed. At least not inside an apartment respectively house. You will not believe what a mess this makes.... and please don't ask me why I know! πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ 4) I really hope that you will own a nice big property with a big workshop soon. With the possibility to store vehicles, I guess that you would never have sold that truck for 400 bucks. 5) Congrats for your patience, Sir. And also for the "can do" attitude. It was a long and beasty job to get the vehicles out of the backyard. I hope that your Tundra wasn't damaged much. 6) Maaan, I absolutely love green cars like the Ranchero. Especially if even the interior is gorgeous green too. But, of course you are right: You simply can't keep them all. Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and especially health to all of you. Post Scriptum: Not much cute little Gus πŸ’š content in this video, sigh. By the way: I just finished watching the complete Ford Gran Torino Elite playlist for the 3rd time (including your epic Las Vegas trip). Way more cute little Gus πŸ’š in those vids. I simply love this wonderful Dachshund (obviously your videos too).
