man this was super helpful. I made a video about Navalny but it was a totally different approach, much more about Navalny's videos and style not so much his history. All this context is vital for understanding Navalny and Russia generally. Amazing job Sam and team!

Hey everyone, I hope you liked this third episode of Borders India. Two more to go! BTW the idea for this video came from the locals in India. I asked for story ideas and many of you told me to look into this issue. So thank you to everyone who suggested it! I would have never stumbled upon this otherwise. Also, If you want to help me make Vox Borders bigger and better, check out the Video Lab: http://bit.ly/vox-video-membership See you next week!

Hi everyone. I hope you liked Ep1! If you want some behind the scenes on Vox Borders, become a member of the Video Lab. This Thursday I'll be doing a live Q&A with the whole Borders team to talk about how we make these episodes: http://bit.ly/vox-video-membership Also, Borders producer Christina Thornell's video recommendations are available to watch in the Lab now, as are a bunch of goodies from past seasons. Go check it out!

Thanks for watching! I took this angle on the piece because I feel like there is plenty of coverage of the drug cartels and their trafficking operations etc. But to me the story of family farms is much more relevant to understanding the root of the drug problem in Colombia. I hope you felt some of the complicated tension that I felt while the police burned down that family’s shed. Or in talking with the farmers. Anyway, thanks for watching Borders Colombia! Next stop: not sure yet. Need to go figure that out!

Hey everyone, I hope you liked Episode two! I learned a ton on this one. I'm curious to hear what was the most surprising thing to you in this episode. We've got three more episodes coming, every wendesday. So keep an eye out for that. Also, If you want to help me make Vox Borders bigger and better, check out the Video Lab: http://bit.ly/vox-video-membership See you next week!

I hope you liked the episode! Little backstory: When I got to Palenque (the village with African heritage) my original contact wasn’t there and wasn’t answering his phone. I was low key freaking out. I had traveled all this way and now had no one to talk to for the video. So I literally found someone on the street and asked “is there anyway you can tell me about this village’s music traditions” That person was Benicio (who you saw in the vid) and he was super knowledgable and skilled. I got lucky but it also goes to show that in this village, rhythm, tradition, history is something everyone understands and participates in. Really cool experience.

Thanks for watching everyone! If you watch the TV show “Narcos” you can see the Hippos in Episode 5 of Narcos Mexico at about the 40 minute mark. Hopefully you now have a better understanding of how they got there.

I will be here for Darkroom as long as you keep making it Coleman. Amazing work as always!!!

Hard to express how grateful I am to have been a part of this team and project. I could have never done what I'm doing now without all you amazing people. Vox has always been a place where what's produced is so much greater than the sum of its parts. Every project I ever made benefitted from that power. I'm so deeply grateful. Congrats on 10 mil! (and I miss you all!!!).

sorry! i do all the editing and post on my own. It's a lot to do while animating and fact checking etc. Some of the mastering stuff slips through the cracks.

Thank you sir!

Yeah sorry about that! super annoying. I wish I had paid closer attention during filming. The Sony a7sii is a great camera but isn't the best with auto focus which is why im hoping to upgrade to the A73. Anyway, thanks for watching!

so glad to hear you appreciated this episode. And yes Colombia is sooo much more than escobar!

Justin Y. It was actually a lady. And her name is dion and she’s the art director on our team and she’s amazing!

nothing has been more true. not to mention nothing in Border would have been possible without the support, teaching, and inspiration of all these people you mentioned and many more.
35
Thank you!! Im so glad you liked it! especially coming from someone so connected to this story.

Ho Lam Cheng The people who built the building I point to tell me that the hole was “designed to satisfy feng shui purposes” https://www.hiphing.com.hk/en/projects/details.php?id=76 Im aware there a lot more to it. But are you saying feng shui has no influence on building holes?

Was just wondering about this earlier today.

Thanks for catching! Ill see if I can fix this right away. This image was in a Getty collection under "british tea trade with China" but I really should have checked the details of the image before putting in the cut. We'll have that fixed asap.

My favorite was Hong Kong :)

jaisnav rajesh thank you!!

Huskie indeed! I put a map during the history section that shows the three levels of concession of Hong Kong over time. The original script had more detail about all the treaties and timing but I streamlined it because it felt like to kick detail that didn’t really add to the story. So I went with the map.

Thank you Andrew! I really appreciate it!

gominuke wow thanks so much. Yes this could be a 10 part ken buena doc series all just on haiti-DR. There are many more events and layers to this story. But I hope I could bring an important slice to a big audience. Thanks for your kind words.

you too!

Hahah just seeing this. Looking back on this I’m pretty sure it’s that yellow Chevy right in front that was gassing it

Trust me. Me too! I applied for a pakistani visa months in advance. Went to embassy in DC, followed up many times with the press attaché but in the end they denied me. Not sure why. But I was very bummed that i didn't get to visit.

Johan Izquierdo they did. Thank you!!!

That's one theory david mentioned to me. But all in all hippos are territorial and if their population keeps exploding eventually they will start to run into territory disputes with humans which might make them more aggressive

thank you! glad you liked it
