Ammo much smaller, making it easier to carry, and carry a lot more than rifle cartridges... Revolvers rarely jam, and semi auto handgun jams can be cleared in the matter of seconds compared to most rifles clearing jams. Last but not least, they are easy to disassemble and toss compared to rifles, meaning you could go on a shooting spree toss the gun in a trashcan, or bushes and etc., and very well make an escape without getting caught. By the way, in the last century it is estimated that over 50 million people lost their lives because they were unable to defend themselves, and the worst part, many lost their lives at the hands of their own government. I would imagine the 17 that died at that Florida High School would willing grab an AR-15 if you could give them a second chance at life, "wouldn't you agree?"
