  2. Question... I understand that heat damages the fluid. In the winter the transmission on our 2009 RAV4 with FWD and 4 speed automatic gets up to 176⁰F which is the high end of normal but on a hot summer day it's not unusual to see it go up to 196⁰ or more. Normal operating temperature is supposed to be 158⁰ - 176⁰ and at that temperature it should read in the hot area on the dipstick. You still only want it changed every 60,000 miles? We had a cooler installed but it made little difference.
