"[T]he Lord your God walk in the midst of your camp, to deliver you, and to give up your enemies before you. Therefore, shall your camp be holy, that he see no unclean thing in you, and turn away from you" (Deuteronomy 23:14). So, if the question is whether, and to what extent, God is concerned, I believe the answer must be that it is entirely (his chief command being that we refrain from offending him for our own good). We bury the dung with a paddled instrument, as to keep the camp sanitary, so to speak (23:13). We do not re-enslave the slave escaped, and take him in as our own, a free man (23:15-16). We do not allow ourselves to used as whores, nor consort with the sodomite (23:17). The list goes on, and does so quite sensibly, I might add. For, it would seem to me that God prefer a man independent by way cooperation, than uncooperative, and thereby wholly dependent upon his good graces

"When the wicked come, then come also contempt, and with ignominy, reproach" (Proverbs 18:3). And, now, I am afraid we have soared far too high for these two little birds to follow. Admittedly, the language is complicated. But, perhaps, that is because it is only for those who already know
