I mentioned it in my last response, but seeing what's happened with the deregulation of banks, I'm not so convinced that businesses could tactfully be convinced to spend money on installing disabled-friendly entrances and such. People are kind of lazy and greedy by nature. :/ I think, when it comes down to it, the side you are on depends on whether or not you are an optimist or pessimist.

Hm, I can understand where you're coming from, but if you look back through history, any time something popular and relatively harmless was made illegal, it sprouted a booming black market rife with violence. Prohibition, modern drug laws, and yes, even prostitution are examples. Before it was illegal, courtesans would advertise themselves openly, they could go to authorities if they were scammed or attacked, and could afford to turn away clients.

  8. My problem with your argument is, in order to make your point you assume that sex is immoral. It's not. And your counter-point to Kenn is a bit confusing...are you saying that, if a woman is getting raped, it's okay to make rape legal, as long as it's also legal for her to defend herself with violence?

  9. Ah. I see now, thanks for extrapolating. :3 I feel the same about prostitution as I do about drug offenses; they're victimless "crimes". However, I can also recognize that not everyone feels the way I do, and why. But frankly, if two willing people want to exchange money for sex, I see nothing wrong with that whatsoever. The act of criminalizing it has MADE it into the seedy world that it is. Same with drugs.

  10. It's a fascinating topic of debate, for sure. A lot of people feel that it's unfair to force others to be considerate and it should be up to the free market to decide to install ramps and designated parking; others think that if not for the ADA, disabled folks would be totally screwed. I hate to say it, but knowing how people work, without the ADA I'm prone to thinking that would indeed be the case. :/
