  1. If they were tweaking these images to look cartoonishly unreal, then I might agree with you. But they're not. They're specifically changing their images to appeal to the human eye in a sexual way, which is subconsciously making both men and women yearn for that unrealistic ideal. No one has to flat out say "that's what girls should look like". The fact that there's an entire industry revolving around taking beautiful girls and photoshopping them into unrealistic proportions is saying it loudly.

  3. No one speaks out for them because there isn't societal pressure for men to have six pack abs. In fact, most advertisers only do that to appeal to men AND women, since having a hard-body is perceived as a male power fantasy, not a woman's sexual fantasy. A large percentage of women prefer their men to NOT have abs like that. We like thin and toned, not huge and hulky.
