They aren't "speaking", though. They are doing what they think they need to do in order to get food. It is a purely hedonism-driven parlor trick. Go watch "why Koko couldn't actually talk" for a brilliant dissertation on why animal communication on a human level is a complete myth.

@arlaux1099 It's safe to say that it's not. Ape communication research was disproven quite thoroughly. Other animals only use signs (or buttons in this case) to get food or other hedonistic stimuli. They never used it to ask questions or interact with people in any meaningful way, they only ever used it to the extent of "give me food/toy/pets". The woman who owned Koko was a hack who refused to release any raw footage of her interacting with Koko, only highly edited, obviously cherry picked clips.

@theendofit That's dog nutters for you. They don't live in objective reality, they won't listen to anything that interferes with their unhealthy deification of those domesticated carrion eaters.

@buckettproductions6253 Rusty is pretty clearly saying that. He even stated his belief that people "suffer the same fate". He very clearly thinks there scientific progress shouldn't happen. He's probably a hypocrite as well, especially if he's ever killed a spider or if he eats meat.
