  2. Not to mention, NONE of the lifeguards were legit. They were just ordinary teenagers working for minimum wage, some of them couldn't even swim.

  4. Same with me in the early 80s. My school playground was made of wood. Not even sanded wood, raw logs haphazardly coated with pitch, which just made the jagged edges even more prominent! Not a day went by where several kids didn't have to go to the nurse to get splinters removed. Not one. I think I went in at least twice a week because of it. Also got mauled by a neighbor's dog, but there weren't any leash laws or anything like that, so they cops couldn't do anything and that terror was allowed to run free all over the neighborhood, chasing kids. Nowadays, people would fall all over themselves to defend that cur and insist all of us children must have "provoked" it.

  5. You know what the sad thing is? I DESPERATELY wanted to ride that motorway as a kid, and was upset to hear that it had been closed down. Kids sure are stupid. I know I was.

  6. Heh, as a kid I remember being super upset I never got to ride that race track, cuz it looked so fun.
