Sharks aren't going to bother you unless you're bleeding into the water.

My heart breaks for Tilikum. I wish I could go back in time and prevent these awful people from stealing orca away from their mothers to begin with. Sea world and other places like this one bred orca when they were just babies, to other baby orca who didn't speak the same dialect. They can't really communicate, and so each orca in captivity is effectively isolated and alone. They're the equivalent of a human 13 year old, technically on their cycle, but not nearly grown up or mature enough to have a baby, let alone raise one. There are not enough words I could say as a marine mammal biologist to tell all of you just how horrifically Tilikum and other sea park orca like him are treated.

@BobbyDigital6411 That case was unfortunate, but the details are unknown and the only sources claiming to know the full story are tabloids. We don't know that he wasn't bleeding at the time of the attack, or done something to provoke the tiger shark. Tiger sharks have been known to attack unprovoked, but again we don't know if that was the case here. Plus, they only live in tropical coastal waters, and attacks are still extremely rare. So I'm pretty sure you're not going to be attacked by one in the open ocean. The only "maneater" shark that lives in open ocean are mako ahari, but again, attacks are very rare. You're far more likely to get killed by a vending machine, yet you don't have an irrational fear of vending machines. More people in North America get killed by rats than sharks globally per year. Dolphins kill more people annually than sharks. You are objectively more likely to be attacked by a cetacean than a shark.

9:20 Yes, decades longer. Females live into their 70s and 80s, and males die shortly after their mother (or if they're lucky, surrogate mother) does, as she feeds him his entire life and he dies once she's gone.
